    Fun confession:

I don't know, and have only used the three I post here. I will be Luxoring along too.

The reason I went Luxor was @Jayaruh. He was a mentor of mine early, I still cold water shave and use Alum because of him. He'd know, because he uses Straights, if the Luxor is actually a better mouse trap.

I got lucky and picked up 2 bottles ofvintage Derby AS. I have never tried the vintage Derby perfume but I have the modern Derby. The AS has little no skin care value. It does smell awesome, while the top notes are weaker than modern perfume version the leather, patchouli and moss smell richer and more natural. But that could just be in my head. The modern perfume is a monster with great projection and staying power, the AS doesn’t have the same projection or last as long. This could be due to age but probably just the concentration difference between AS and perfume.

    February 2 SOTD:

    30DC LE Brush
    Proraso Red SS
    Schick Type D
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Proraso Red AS

I had one more new soap, this Proraso, which I threw into a cart on Amazon a week or so ago. I have used the CO Bigelow cream for a while, but this was my first Proraso experience, and it was pretty top notch. The scent is good match for the AS, which I have had for a while. The performance was good as well. It set up a two pass DFS, and it doesn't get much better than that. I am looking forward to finishing this week. I hope everyone has a great day!

    SOTD February 2, 2018

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 injector
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Back to a Chick blade in my home base G1. Love this razor and the Chick blade felt terrific. Smooth and comfortable all around. Friday shaves for me are relaxing, consistent, and something to look forward to.

I need to work on finishing off some samples and working on other soaps. I've been tempted to buy some soaps on different BST places but have resisted so far. I don't need any more soaps!! Self discipline and control......

    Have a great day!

    AOS Peppermint Shave Cream

I decided to change paces a little this morning with breaking out the AOS Peppermint cream I received for Christmas. As good as the Thäter 3 band is with soaps, it is even better with creams. The softness of the bristles contrasting with the coolness of the cream really added to the shave. The scent of peppermint providing its own wake up call. Three passes and touch ups ended with me just missing the baby. I did end up with 2 weepers due to operator error. The Timeless will bite if I don't pay attention. A splash of Fine Lavender with its mixture of lavender and peppermint proved to be perfect way to end a great shave. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.

Thank you Perry. I often darken a photo either on the computer or the phone to control the how shiny things are in the edited photo. Honestly with some razors and brushes that are so reflective, I really have to work hard to stay out of the photo myself. I can't think of a more sure fire way to ruin a SOTD photo than having my mug or worse in the finished product. :D

2nd day with the NEW and Nacet. Whipped up just a super lather with the Soap Commander. 3 easy passes later and just a little left on my lower neck stopped me from being completely smooth. Finished with the Reserve Spice, and between this and the soap am loving the Spicy vibe. Favourites February is starting out fantastically.
    Have a great day all!

Friday February 2nd - Fashion February and Fatboy Friday

    IMG_00000140.jpg

For Fashion February, I repeated yesterday's colour-coordinated shave with a different Jeeves splash. And for Fatboy Friday, I used my Gillette Black Beauty because I had already used the Fatboy on Thursday.

The Jeeves Key Lime provided a good lather whipped up by the little Muhle synthetic. I then did a comfortable one-pass shave to a decent-looking result somewhere in the CCS to DFS spectrum.

Hope everybody is starting into a good weekend!
