Nice setup Dan. The MMOC can certainly humble a fella if he gets a little overconfident.

For February, it seems I’m outta step a little with the theme. I have been using an Ever Ready 1914 lather catcher and loving it. A recent hernia surgery has me on leave from work; so it’s a great time to focus on my shavette skills- if there are marks, I don’t have to go to work that way. I will be working in some weishi 9306 ( after a discussion with @Bama Samurai ). And Fuzzy has worn me down, I will be using Williams a good bit. I realize that one brush, one soap is to minimize confounding variables, but to state that the brush or the soap is a reason for unsuccessful results( assuming both or either are not defective) is the kind of excuse the underpinnings of this focus is trying to root out. Therefore I assert they are within acceptable limits and vary inconsequentially.

Now that I’ve done all my high talk’n-“ let’s get ready to RUMBLE “and “ Ya’ll watch this”!!:git::duel::eatdrink013:

I really enjoy the Rose. Not something I want to use everyday, but I like it quite a bit.

Vision is such a great soap. The scent reminds me a little of clean sheets on a clothesline, and it has a little mint in it, so it has a nice little chill. That one falls into the “Could use it every day forever” category.

I feel your pain. My lower right neck is my nemesis so I know the feeling. Most days I don’t Chase the baby on my neck.

First, @Drygulch I finished off my second soap this year. Today was the final day for the Haslinger, another one bites the dust. This year I finished off the Haslinger and R66 Cavedish.

Some Japanese steel today, Suzuki Niles. This is a 6/8 wester grind between a 1/2 or 1/4 hollow. It has some weight behind it and the edge was very smooth and very sharp. The coup d' grace was delivered by the 30DC LE brush, the Haslinger is no more. Wonderful shave that rated epic.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+

    Razor: Suzuki Niles 6/8
    Stop: Drygulch black latigo
    Brush: 30DC LE
    Pre: Nivea
    Soap: Haslinger
AS: Guerlain Derby AS, L’Ocittane ASB
    Scent: Guerlain Derby

Jason, it's a beautiful tool but it's just on loan from @LOOT. James & I arranged to swap some gear, and he tossed the Blackbird in for me to take for a test ride. I haven't had a chance to try any of the modern 3 pc DE's so I reluctantly agree. Glad I did! Building a razor entirely out of stainless steel and getting it to look and shave as well as this one - I can see why they ask these prices. One more shave, maybe two, and I'll be returning it to him along with the stuff from my end of our swapping session. I'm going to use a Feather blade next.

After that I've got a Lutz Slant to try out. My first of the type. I do like vintage and this is a German 3 piece made in the 1930's. Cool part is it in the original box and unused. It's bi-polar having a mild and an aggressive side.

That is exactly my impression of it as well. A nice soap, but not one I could use everyday. I loaded it into my MWF ceramic dish, so it will keep me from refilling that for a while.

Quick note. The1914 is a great razor but we call it the little lather catcher. The open head razors before it are proper lather catchers. Happy shaves as the '14 is awesome.
