Figured out tonight I'm not a Brut kinda guy.

Brut is an old favorite, reminds me of my childhood.

Do you guys remember the Brut commercial with Kelly Lebrock? I was so intrigued & remember my dad had that mysterious green bottle in his medicine cabinet. I snuck into his bathroom & opened the bottle. Took a DEEP whiff...& coughed so hard I dropped the bottle :o...The whole bathroom (& bedroom) smelled Bruty & little ohpaos got in big trouble.

I honestly can't recall what it smells like, but I still remember that ad. Now I have to sniff it (lightly!) at the next opportunity to find out what drove Kelly (& Lady Swarden) wild. :)

I used Brut, Hi Karate and Old Spice back in the 70s but I am an exclusive Old Spice person now. I've tried many, many aftershaves and always go back to Old Spice. I don't even bother anymore.

I'd try real Brut before calling off Brut as the knock-off smells different. I even spent a long time comparing the spray bottle kind, the plastic bottle kind, and the knock-off. The knock-off was only sort of like Brut to me.

I enjoy BRUT A/S its one of may favorite scents probably from growing up and my grandfather either have on BRUT or OS . As far as Bay Rums go I 2nd Kramperts... I have a bottle and it is a very nice BR and it really does condition the skin.

I used to use Brut a long time ago, but ended up settling on Old Spice and pretty much ignoring everything else. I need to revisit it and see if I still like it. Same with English Leather.
I was several decades younger. I still love OS, and British Sterling, so there's a good chance I'll still like the other two, but we shall see.
There are so many AS out there. I just need two or three for a bit of variety.

I don't recall using Brut much as a younger man. I smelled some the other night in the store and I thought it might be a little too heavy for me now. I use Old Spice or Captain's Choice Bay Rum for the most part now.

Same here. grew up in the 70's surrounded by Brut, OS, Canoe and Stetson to the point of nausea....

I have recently warmed up to Old Spice again, but can't stand any of the others anymore. Brut also reminds us Jets fans about just how long it's been since they were not a joke. I'm looking at you Joe Namath!

I have an order coming in of the OS lime to try as well.....

I got a Brut aftershave/cologne set when I was like 11 or 12 and I pretty much dumped both bottles on my chest before a school dance. That whole gymnasium reeked of Brut.
Its really not a bad scent but that experience turned me off forever.

I second the idea of smelling the real stuff before you declare it awful. That said, I've smelled the real stuff and declared it awful. lol To each their own. Brut just reminds me of junior high.

Definitely not musky. It's how you smell after a night of drinking and smoking clove cigarettes. hahaha Think of nutmeg, cloves, and bay leaves steeping in a glass of cheap rum. Amazingly, it works. Throw in some lime and make it Cuba Libre style.

I think Brut smells like a watered down version of Clubman.

Poke a few holes in the bottom of that thing and you'll have yourself a camp shower.

Check out your local WalGreens. That's where I found it. (Found it; I didn't buy it.) It would make an interesting PIF, wouldn't it? Whoever posts the best picture of themselves from the '60's-'70's. Hmmmm . . . . .

You're "no Joe Namath", eh? Seriously, on the bay rum, I am still working on a Stephan's bottle(15 oz). I like it-it's described as a "true barbershop classic".

Those two Bay Rums are pretty clove-heavy, right?
