    thanks for the link Dridecker

If ur having a hard time finding sample packs then just pick up the small packs of five for the ones u want .... or maybe there could be some ppl one here that would trade....

  2. I decided to be "thorough" so I bought several sampler packs and then filled in the gaps with single-maker buys from various sellers. I've managed to accumulate 35 different DE blade types, which includes many but not all of the ones mentioned in various threads here on this site. (But I can't find "Polsilver" now that razorandbrush is shut down....).

I'm doing 3 shaves per blade, and then 2 blades per type, to gauge my reaction to each blade type. So far, about 40% of the way thru my list [thread=17701](ref)[/thread], I've found 3 that I REALLY like. Haven't tried the Feathers or the Gillette Yellow Sharps or the Iridiums yet.

Here are 11, and there are probably a lot more out there:

    Bullgoose Shaving

    Connaught Shaving

    Details for Men

    Fendrihan

    Shoebox Shaveshop

    West Coast Shaving

    Wish4Star

    And on eBay:

    Baronhealy

    Dark's Blade Supply

    OnTheEdge

    Shave and Save

Most samplers are simply assortments of various 5 or 10 packs of blades, and therefore more a convenience than anything else. You can also put together your own custom made sampler by ordering the individual packs.

Thanks for the list, I'll compare it against the current one listed in the Shave School Sticky and see what can be added. :signs107

I almost forgot our friends down under at Kinetic Blue. Well tie me kangaroo down sport! These Aussies have a nifty web page for selecting the blades in your sampler. A good selection, too.

From another post on TSD, DeRazorBlades.com also sells blade samplers.

Okay, that's enough for now. Samplers of various types have been around for a very long time, so it is no surprise there are so many stores selling blade assortments.

    Happy shaving everyone!

I thought I had found my go to blade when I got some Feathers from my son, but now that I tried a Lord blade that my other son got in a sample pack and PIF'd me a couple, I now have an equal to the Feather. Until 2 days ago, my back up blade was Dorco 300. In fact, when I began my shave with the Lord blade, I actually stopped, opened the silo doors to check that I didn't insert a Feather in by mistake. Just goes to show that you never stop discovering different and sometimes better setups!

working through the astras right now, provides a great shave, much better than the blades that came with my HD. several other brand packs to go through, I'm digging the experience, and my technique is also improving... go figure. .

I'm definitely still in the process, but I'm quite comfortable where I'm at--or at least where I think I'm at. My journey started out a while back with a "make-do" pack of Dollar General DEs. I think they were US made. I was surprised how good they seemed to me. No scrapes or bloody mess, not even a rash problem. I was certainly looking forward to what a better blade might me like.

Research led me to what I thought was a good sample pack. I decided that Persona Reds would probably end up my blade to go to, but I'm leaving room for something--Feathers maybe?--to turn out to be magical and end the story. So I've used the Persona Reds and Gillette 7 O'clocks, and I like them. The Personas have proven smooth but neither type have overwhelmed me. I'm getting good shaves with no blade problems really. Maybe the '57 super speed I'm using is just that good, or just that mildly leveling.

I have a bunch of others to try but I'm not really in a rush. I'll get to the Feathers down the road, but I'm not having problems so why rush it.
