Japanese razors are often stiff grinds and get very sharp. I highly doubt your beard would be a problem for them.
I've had my eye on japanese fixed handle blades. Shame about the price, though. Graduation present from me to myself? I'll post pics of the wedge once it arrives. It has to post from the UK, but it is indeed on its way!
