So, I had my first shave with my new razor and I must say. Not bad at all. I watched alot of videos and they really helped. I paid close attention to the lather, making sure to get it right. At least what I think is right or pretty darn close compared to what I have seen on the net. I soaked my brush and mug in warm water while I showered. I was a bit scared at firts, I guess from some of the horror stories I have read on here from newbies. After getting a feel for what I was doing it wasn't bad at all. Maybe I was lucky, I don't know. One thing I do know is my face and neck aren't itching at all. I did not take multiple passes and still got a decent shave. I used the Derby blade, AOS lavender sensitive skin - all four steps. The product seems to be gentle and I think it helped me, but my wife hates the smell. I will now look at The Shave Den Store for a more pleassing product ( its a bit strong for me also ). What do you guys recommend ? I hear alot about Taylor of Old Bond Street. Anyway thought I would share my first experience and say I look forward to the next time I shave, which I think I will limit to twice maybe three times a week until my skin gets used the new routine.

Congrats on a good first shave. Welcome to the den.

I always recommend the body shop maca root shave creme for new shavers

Right now they have a buy two get one free special. It has a mild but pleasant scent, is slick, moisturizes, and lathers very easily. It is reasonably priced and one tub will last approx. 3 months.

All of the three T's have a good reputation. Trumpers, Trufitt and Hill, and TOBS. TOBS has milder scents than the other two and is priced accordingly. Trumpers Limes shave cream smells amazing, and lathers easily. I still think the maca root shave creme from the body shop is a better product and half the price of Trumpers.

Welcome! I prefer fractionated coconut oil after shaving as it's not greasy and sinks in fast.
