How would prepare for your first pro shave if you were me?

Well, screw it.:( I didn't really need a straight shave, anyway. Let my stubble grow for 2 days so I'd have a little something for the barber to knock down, then we had delays on our trip, ended up having to double back about 30 minutes into the trip (forgot our tickets for tonight). By the time I got to the barbershop, he was already closed. It's just as well, I didn't have any change to feed the parking meter anyhow. So I came back to the hotel and shaved with my 30's open-comb Empire. Almost BBS in 2 passes, so I guess I still got a good shave, and I saved $11, but still, I'm disappointed. I guess it just isn't time for me let another man go at my throat with a sharp blade.

Sorry you missed out on great shave. Truth be told some barbers charge more than $11. That's a great deal. I just don't get the fear of a "pro" cutting you. I'm sure this barber isn't fresh out of barber school unless of course you left that out in your initial post.

If it were a student or apprentice there should be cause for concern. But highly doubt that would even take place because the mannequins would be the victims not the patron.

As far as I know, he's been in business for a long time. It's not so much that I'm afraid of a "pro" cutting me, it's just I worry how my skin might react to a straight shave.

And on an unrelated note: Your Pedobear avatar is kind of creeping me out.

Fair enough, I have sensitive skin but of course everyone is different. The shaving cream they use is Campbell in my experience along with Latherking machine.

Pedo bear started out as ASCII character. If I was pedo I wouldn't be on this site. But alas people take the web too seriously hence

What? Pedos don't enjoy a good shave, too? I mean, one of our goals around here is to get a BBS shave...
