That makes Fine American Blend quite similar to Stirling's Sandpiper(imitation of YSL "La Nuit pour home").. I don't like deception in shaving products or ANY commercial item. What's the barbershop pole doing on Fine American if it's more of a cologne-type scent?
I am horrible with scents, but that seems the most basic definition I have ever heard, and always understood.
I do not know as I have never tried Fine American Blend. It is possible to be both, Rive Gauche is a both Fougere and a barbershop scent. There is a big overlap of these two scent categories.
It is not science and there is no mathematical like definition for scent categories. They are just broad descriptions, especial 'barbershop', since it is more about nostalgia and what every the barber you visited years ago used. It is definitely fun to do some sampling and see what is out there in the world of fragrances. Surrender to Chance has a huge selection and reasonable prices.
You can't make this stuff up. I thought it sounded interesting anyways. I'm always looks for something different Steve
I recently purchased some Fougere scented shave soap by Henri et Victoria and the scent is identical to Arko. I've asked my family to do a sniff test and they too found the two to be identical. I've never heard anyone describe Arko as being a Fougere scent.
