Agreed Fuzzy. I liken using a MM compared to a 1912 or a lather catcher to driving a Yugo vs a Rolls Royce or Bentley. The MM is the Yugo and teh 1912 or lather catcher is the Rolls.

I think that the MM's draw especially to new people for an SE is that it has a longer handle than the 1912, more heft, and it's a TTO. Also they are in abundance for cheap. I enjoyed the Bullseye(Safety Bar verson MM) as my first SE.

Just pulled out my bullet tip open comb MM. It rendered it's usual fantastic shave.

I have a 1912, a featherweight and a brass MMOC. The Open comb is by far the best shave I've had nest to a str8. Just be gentle with it. It's it's first time with you too. Just remember it is sharp. The 1912 also delivers great shaves but is just about tied withe the featherweight. The featherweight would probably be a good choice to start with the DE as the blade is stiffer and the featherweight has a short handle and doesn't weigh hardly anything.

My 1912's all shave better then the feather weights.. i have several of each.., the featherweights shave the same to me as the g bar and push button. While they are all great the 1912 is better to me.. and you should try a lather catcher., those are fantastic razors to shave with.
