The world lost a comic genius today. From "The Producers" to "Blazing Saddles", "Young Frankenstein" to "Willy Wonka" he had so many great movies and wonderful lines. If I had to pick one it's: What's your favorite?
I enjoyed his films. Can you imagine having supper with him and Gilda Radner? After finding out while serving in the US Army, he was assigned as a Medic and worked in treating psychiatric patients I get where his odd humor came from.
Big part of my childhood. My favorites of his are Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Stir Crazy and Willy Wonka. My kids love him as Willy Wonka and were really heartbroken to hear of his passing. I can't wait until they're older so I can introduce them to his other above mentioned movies. My five year old did enjoy Young Frankenstein though. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I always got the impression that he fundamentally changed after Gilda's passing and never really recovered. Thankfully she sought her dreams and was able to leave quite a legacy in her short time. Both were such great talents. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Silver Streak, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstien. I've always considered him to be the best comedian of our time.
This is sad to hear, unfortunately we cant live forever but he was a great actor and seemed like the kind of person you would want to have a beer with. Silver Streak was a classic, and he had a lot of chemistry with Richard Prior.
Another of his films that I loved is "The Frisco Kid." Just another note, that many people may not know; he was married (for the last 25 years) to Karen Boyer. My sympathy to her and all of his loved ones.
I enjoyed many of his films—titles mentioned in previous posts. I still get a laugh from this one, The Producers (1967) with Zero Mostel
I had a drink with Gene Wilder in 1996 whilst he was performing in "Laughter on the 23rd Floor" in London and Richmond, Surrey. He was wearing a dressing gown, and his costume about an hour before the matinee in Richmond. I had tickets, so it made the experience all the more memorable.
