Mike, the Bulb shape is really nice like the Blond one in the photos, that would be different from your current line-up lathers great with soaps and creams and gets the lather right were you want it with precision Chris, are looking for something like a solid black or Black with some Blond striping? I haven't had a lot of feedback on the black yet. Hehehe, True Bob...they are both great...that gear shift handle is still one of my favorites...
Blond Fan shape So, do we all get the same shape, or can we get the bulb or fan when we place the order. Oh, and not to sound stupid, but what is the engraving option?
Hi David, When the order link goes live, you will have the option of selecting a Bulb shaped knot or a Fan shaped knot.... The poll for the loft shape / type was added as an afterthought...just to get an idea of what everyone was looking for... I think some color variation is good (maybe even necessary). The colors could be from browns to auburns to blondes. If I wanted a completely black handle, I could just get a resin handle.
I will ask, I think they will most likely come with the logo as they did last time we did a group brush.....the logo should remove easily with a bit of polish or perhaps nail polish remover..if you do not wish it to be on the brush. Thanks Chris, most likely there will be variation in all of the handle colors and types, as these are "Natural" materials no two handles will be the same. I will ask about trying to get Black with "nice coloring" in it and not Solid Black. I will report back as soon as I have more information.
The thing to remember is as these are Natural products and there is no way to pick the exact handle you will receive.... No two handles will be exactly alike, and they will all be different from one another. Unless you order directly from the handle manufacturer Kimson Handicraft Co. and verify with pictures prior to having your handle shipped to you..it may be different from the ones in my photos.. I do know that Shavemac will be requesting "Highly Figured" pretty handles.....with nice coloring....but what we receive will be luck of the draw. I have had a couple people tell me they plan one ordering more than one and then picking the one they like the best and selling the other...that may be an option for some of you. I just wanted to make sure that everyone know these handles are natural horn material and colors do vary quite a bit with natural materials..

Padron, in an earlier post I has asked about size and from your reply, the handle will be approximately 50 mm. Is this a standard handle pattern from Shavemac that will be used for all these brushes? Also, since I have never had a Shavemac brush, what will be the characteristics of the bristle? Are their bristles normally soft or more on the prickly side? Will their be any difference between the bulb and fan shaped bristles as to how they will feel on your face? This has been a lot of work for you. Thanks Al
Hi Al, Yes, I believe all the handles will be in the 50mm range....I measured mine and it is about 1 15/16" long... This review may provide more insight as to the knots performance as it will be the same diameter and same loft....the 2007 brush was only offered with a bulb shaped loft though... http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4635&highlight=Shavemac Bristle feel will be very subjective, I like both styles Fan and Bulb, the brushes will have the same hair so the feel will be similar..the bulb shape may feel more scrubby with the shorter hairs on the outside of the loft supporting the longer inner hairs... I have yet to try a Shavemac fan styled brush, so I do not have personal experience with one. Hope that helps, Neale
