Wine was more of a recent interest. I tried to tone down the partying for my last semester so I kind of stuck to wine during the week and microbrews on weekends. No more 30 racks of pabst. It was fun exploring all the different types of wines and figuring out what I liked. I tried to stick with bottles under $15, although the king estate was a little bit more, and the only white I'd buy again. From what I've read, wine was steadily climbing in price for years and there was a recent resurgence of lower priced wines that are rather good. I'll still take a bottle of knob creek if its there or enjoy some wheat beer. Surprisingly, Shock Top, made by Michelob, is pretty good. Throw a slice of orange on top. Yum.
I would like to find a nice inexpensive white. I dont care for the taste of red. Blushes i would be willing to try what do you guys recommend.
I dont buy blush. Dont know much about it. What whites do you like? I recommend the King Estate that I talked about earlier. By far the best white I've tried. I think it was around $20 a bottle.
Boone's Farm Is Boone's Farm still being made?:signs113 Of course one could hit rock bottom with Thunderbird, if that's still being made
Every Day Drinkers For a good every day drinker, for white you might try Beringer Alluvium Blanc; a nice light white that should be good with summer coming on. Our every day Red right now is Phantom by Bogle. It is a blend of Petite Syrah, Zinfandel, and Mourerde; very nice drinker whether your just having a glass or two, or with a meal.
You might find it interesting that Yellow Tail is not a winery at all, but a label under which the wine is marketed and sold.
If you guys are fond of dry white wine then you have to try the Sauvignon Blancs from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. Brands like Oyster Bay, Montana, Secret Stone. This region is widely acknowledged as the best producer of Sauvignon Blanc in the world. Even the French have pretty much admitted defeat. I don't know about their availablity in the States , but here in OZ they are really easy to find and start at about $17 AUD a bottle. We are spolied with choice down here, with both NZ and Oz producing large quantities of great wine. Whats more, the most interesting wines can usually be found in the $15 to $30 AUD price range. Our big brand domestic beer on the other hand............. Pete
