That is a slim twist I think. Not the super adjustable or slim adjustable.

The Blue Tip is a surprisingly good, and frequently underestimated razor.

You hear all this stuff about "not aggressive enough", "favored by ladies", "nowhere near as good as a regular Flare Tip SS or a Red Tip", "well, it does have a lighter weight aluminum handle", etc., etc.

And then you put a nice sharp blade like a Feather in it and finally get around to giving it a try. You are then quite surprised by getting a super smooth and comfortable shave with it!

No worries. None of those are Gillette adjustables though.

yeah none of them adjustable unless you back it off a 1/2 to 1 1/2 turns and hold your finger on the top of the doors. aggressive shave then :)

An early Aristocrat gave on the instructions directions to loosen the tto knob one quarter turn to increase aggression. Doesn't apply to adjustables.

I have never been drunk enough to think about that with a TTO.

I have done this frequently with a non-adjustable TTO razor, but only to make sure I get a nice sharp line when trimming sideburns.

I don't think I'd want to try a complete shave like that though. And with an adjustable I just dial it up to 9 to do any trimming.

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Arko Extra Performance Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #291 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gillette Slim Razor with a Gillette Silver Blue blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Peach WH and then Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Can't say I've tried shaving with a loosened knob on purpose, but it's an option. As to my favorite Fat Boy, it stays on number nine for the full shave. It took a while to go from five to seven, but now I don't think about backing down.

    Today was Fatboy Friday...

I'm really starting to like this 1958 D4 razor. Initially - I think because for most of the past 5 years I've been using a long handled EJ - the shorter handle put me off but I seem to be getting used to it and the Fatboy is fast becoming a favorite. Even the price at typically double other vintage Gillettes for a nice one on auction sites isn't bothering me when I start looking at what modern adjustables, some of dubious quality, sell for.

I noticed something while i was searching for a super adjustable, not sure if this is true but it seems 1969 gillette produced more of these then any other years, most sites like ebay and etsy usually have mostly 1969 SA's, of course you can find other years but it seems 1969 date codes are the most plentiful and 1972 for the black handle SS.
