Now there's a razor ya don't see every day! Please tell me it's the smoothest, closest cutting, and it makes birds sing and rainbows spontaneously burst forth! Well, that may be too much. How's it compare to other Gillettes?

 

I spent the first week of this December getting reacquainted with my 1959 Fat Boy. Six shaves in five days on an experiment to see if I can enjoy an everyday reduction.

12/1 With a fresh Kai blade I started my week. The brush is a B-400, here with a knot pulled from a new Omega 98 boar.


12/3 Same set up with the exception of swapping in an APShaveCo Tuxedo knot. Both those shaves on setting #9.


12/4 That's when I decided to try an every day shave, rather than my every other day routine. Traded in the T-4oo brush with a badger knot. Started the process of decanting AS to a glass bottle.


12/5 Back to the B-400 brush with a Whipped Dog High Mountain badger knot. Experiencing some irritation I backed the FB down to #7. Different suribachi bowl, same great lather.


12/6 Still feeling a little raw, I adjusted to #5. The JR #130 is made from a piece of cypress from my fathers orchard & Maggards Sunrise synth knot.


12/7 Brush of the Day - Omega Pro #10098 boar. FB still on #5. Pinaud now has the label installed on the glass bottle. This was the last use of the Kai blade.

It does all of the above and more—-as long as I use unicorn tears to make my lather. Honestly, to me it is equivalent to a Toggle due to the extra weight. I use all my adjustables set on 9 wide open. The only other Gillette that give me a closer shave out of all in my collection is a RFB #20 Chromium Big Fellow.

 

I've only experience one out of four. Gotta UP my game!

I make my soaps out of unicorn fat, use the horn and hair for a brush and hooves as razor stands.
