thank you Chris.is your 'crat silver plate or rhodium plate? rhodium plated razors don't tarnish like silver ones do.is your center bar straight or have wings at the end?mine has the 430 030 tagged baseplate and no writing on the handle,with 1939 case liner

So my understanding is this is Gen 1 with Rhodium, but happy to be corrected.
There is talk of Australian sets, but the Auction I got this from had plenty of Claris Cliff, Carltonware and other British expats stuff too.

The tarnished bits will show on close ups, the razor had a rusty old Gillette blue and old shaving cream in there, one wonders what happened to the owner. Looks like he might have been planning another shave but got interrupted.

thank you Chris.mine is a 1939 mdel,not sure if yours or mine will shave differently as they look identical,but the 1936 model with the different center bar is supposed to feel more aggressive.

 

Interesting. Can't comment on that of course, but I could try a Kai in there and see what it feels like. Either way I like the way it shaves.
