A fresh, clean thread for this... Thanks brit! Everyone please remember threads in Safety Razors are for discussion and pictures of razors themselves: quality, dislike, rareness, blade exposure, opinions on how they perform, broken, repairing, photography and documentation pertaining to, etc. Drive-by Shave of the Day posts and any other unrelated posts should be done in their appropriate sections throughout the forum.
Two of my favorite English razors, #58 set and HD500............ Sent from my cp3648AT using Tapatalk
canadian flat bottom tech a canadian flat bottom tech/4 piece handle.. After a little careful measuring with a caliper ,the cap of the Canadian flat bottom Tech is slightly narrower edge to edge than the British version. In theory and slightly visibly it would appear that the Canadian version has more blade exposure and gap.Feels a touch more efficient than the Brit as well. Canadian on the left.. note the canadian double crease cap has a larger place between the inner cap center and top of blade.only seen this cap on this razor an no other gillettes so far.has late 40s gillette script etched on top.1949?
Are Franken-Razors permitted? I much prefer 3 piece razors so I can use them on a handle of choice. I use SE more than DE these days, but I still really like my Old Type pictured on a BRW Improved handle. It isn't cased, not particularly rare nor valuable, but I get fantastic shaves using it. If franken-razors aren't permitted, let me know and I will scurry down the lane.
I got a friend of mine into DE shaving a few years ago using a triangle tech. After a year, I gifted him a Weber Bulldog handle followed up with a red and black set new deluxe. Not the prettiest razor, but after the first head shave with it, he said he is done looking for razors as this one was perfect.
