    nickel new sc/tech handle

    1936 NEW Somerset Nickel (1)_edited.jpg

    but the important bits survived..thankfully;)

    an older pic.

blade bank missing, handle and inner case badly corroded.no water damage to plate or cap as evident on the inner liner..a real shame..the case was actually pinholed under the liner..

Some razor sets I still have.

2nd gen British Aristocrat circa 1948 - 1949. I don't know if this is the original case or not, when I bought this it came with it. This one was all messed up when I bought it with a broken center bar that I pipe soldered back together and straightened out.

Next up is a 41 Aristocrat set. The case and liner is toast and so was the razor originally. It has been repaired and re plated.

Some razors without cases I still own.
    3 razrsa.jpg 3 razrsb.jpg

    Left to right
    46 Aristocrat
    46 - 48 Aristocrat
47 maybe early 48 Super Speed.

The 46 Aristocrat is the same razor as what is in the Regent Tech sets made in 44 - 45. Difference is they added end caps to the razor and rebranded it as an Aristocrat after WWII ended.

The Super Speed is the equivalent of a rookie baseball card for that razor. The MkII version which has creases in the guard came out in the 2nd production run of the Speed Speeds when they changed the stamping dies for all the 1pc TTO razor to incorporate that into the design. This razor also shaves differently from the MkII and III versions of this style of Super Speed.

The sequel to even some more razors I still own without cases the 3pc Tech version.
    tech1.jpg tech2.jpg

    Left to right
60s era flat bottom 3pc tech oddity with shoulders like an old type
60s era open comb Nacet branded 3pc tech

The one with the shoulders was made for the Indian market and is early 60s based upon the fact the handle is made of brass.
The open comb is mid to late 60s since the handle is alumimun but still the older style rounded end and not the later ball style end.

It will be a little while till I get it but I think I snagged another unique Gillette. Can't say for sure since the seller's pictures were not definitive.

I think I may have scored one of these in the wrong case.

Those are earliest known open comb tech razors. It is probably somewhere between 60 - 61 since it is the older style tech guard but as an open comb. They made those handles I think starting in 1960.

Here is one picture of the razor. The cap is interesting because the logo isn't etched but pressed into it. Though you can't see the underside from this picture I do know from other pictures the base plate is definitely not a flat bottom new or long/short comb base plate. I just don't know for sure if it is a tech razor yet but everything points to it being so.

If it's open comb, is it a Tech? :signs002:

Especially as it's a long teeth comb?

You can tell from the seller's pics it is not a new or flat bottom new. You can't see the exact shape but you can tell there is some sort of indent on the base plate so it leads me to believe it is that French market Tech razor. I have no idea what razor belongs with that case but do know it is not this one.

I believe the case is from the 1924 Pioneer Olympic Special set made for the French market. Seen here:

Yes, just a generic old type but I think the Made in U.S.A. font on the bottom of the guard is different than most old types. And the white blade boxes will be a challenge to find I think.
