Rinse, apply witch hazel, apply after shave, fend off the wife. Kind of like living in an Axe commercial... Without using Axe.

Cold water, Thayers witch hazel, Nivea balm, aftershave. (I find that if I apply the aftershave before the balm, the former's scent will be mitigated by the latter.)

Nivea balm is about the only shaving thing that survived my transition from carts to wet shaving. I rarely use it, but it's there if I need it.

Warm water rinse, cold water rinse, lightly pat face with towel and then apply after-shave balm.

Afterwards, periodic faceturbation remains entirely possible...

Since discovering Dragonsbeard soap, my post-shave routine is much easier:
    Shave using Dragonsbeard
    Cold water rinse
    Thayers witch hazel
TSD Bourbon & Vanilla AS splash

    Enjoy fantastic post-shave for 8 - 12 hours.

I'm so impressed with the soap I'll be getting the skin food when their new Ethos product line of shaving soap & skin care products comes out in the next month.

Witch hazel or aftershave, sometimes both. Then a shave balm or lotion.

I use AS, let it cool down my skin, when it dried up I use my favorite anti-aging face lotion

Witch Hazel w/aloe + Osage Rub mixed 50/50. Soothes and cools. Love it and use it every shave.

This thread is almost 8 years old; I responded back at post #7.
But seeing that it has been resurrected, it got me to thinkin'...
How long does it really take to slap on some after shave and get a spritz of cologne? Seriously? "Given the time..."???
If you don't have time for that, you really didn't have time to start the shave in the first place!

I follow a strict 10-minute post-shave routine while standing in front of the mirror:

    Minute 1:
    warm water rinse
    alum
    cool water rinse
gingerly pat face dry with supima cotton towel
    witch hazel
    unrefined shea butter
    aftershave

    Minutes 2-10:
    admiration of baby smooth mug
various tai chi poses approved for seniors
    upper body muscle flexing
    positive self-talk
celebratory singing (thanks @Primotenore for the lessons)
wardrobe selection, including the day's Piggly Wiggly t-shirt, cargo shorts, socks, and sandals

When I'm admirin' my freshly shaven mug in the mirror, time stands still.
