Just got word that my custom plated 1958 Fat Boy is coming back from Chris at Razor Plate. The razor was completely disassembled and cleaned by Cap'n Murphy before plating. The head, collet and TTO are rhodium, the handle and adjuster are black rhodium. We used white paint on the numbers for contrast. Just got these first pics of the finished product! I can't thank Chris and Cap enough for this awesome razor!
It sure does, it is almost ineffective in shaving it is more like something that could be used up thin out hair or beards.
I just got this last week. It is a French copy of the double ring Gillette. Marked 'Louis' It is beautiful. In perfect condition, although it could use a little clean up, especially in the knurling.
New razor today, well new to me. Local enthusiast who sold me my '46-'47 Aristocrat made me a deal on a Merkur 23c. I've been wanting a long handle to use for my head so will give this a spin Wednesday night.
So I was looking for my "Icky" which is a clone Sticky to post in another thread and had to search though my loose razors. I have several dozen in boxes but wanted you to see what was just laying around since I started collecting in March of 14.. My Icky. And the rest... here on Gilligan's Isle. Um Yeah, wrong topic..
Found at a local flea market today. Boxes are a bit rough but the razors cleaned up fairly nice. Still some work to do to get them back to their original glory, if possible. Type E Schick's. $16 for the pair. Edit: Upon further review a Type E and Type G.
Before I posted my Durham Hoe types, today it is my straights. Some have parts missing but all in all they area good representation of what you can find out there. The bottom pictures contain two silver straights before they modified the head attachment.
Just some snaps of my new-to-me Eterna DE safety razor. Made in Sweden in the 40's. It really felt like shaving with a SE razor - it's pretty aggressive and two passes later I had an incredibly smooth result. Fantastic razor.
