Moustache watch, week 3 I'm in that awkward almost a moustache phase I'm guessing, and there's 2 parts of my upper lip that will not grow facial hair. Must be from a scar or something. But I'm not giving it up, once it gets longer I'll wax it over those 2 spots and hopefully won't even see it.
From what you guys can see, is it trimmed OK as far as where I'm stopping shaving? Like at the corners?
@youngunn Yes, it will grow over to cover the bare spots. I have one, as well next to the corner of my mouth on the right side. The 'stache is a little thinner there but nothing I worry about. I use the corners of my mouth as a guide for where to start shaving. In the military it was a vertical line at the corners. Now, for me, it is a horizontal line at the corners. As for wax, I would avoid the Clubman you see in the local stores. Google Firehouse Wacky Tacky moustache wax. Excellent stuff.
Kevin, I can seriously relate to the coloration of your facial hair. Looks like I've 3-4 weeks of growth to get close to where your'e at! I blame my Native American heritage for my lack of facial hair growing prowess…. how many bearded Choctaws have you ever seen?
I'm part Native American too, Kevin! My Dad used to like saying we have "Pileahockie blood... a tribe with a small deposit in Oklahoma". Actually, I believe it is Arapaho, but I also stem from a German heritage as well... my Mom's side is almost entirely German. I believe I get my body hair (lots of it) from that side of the family. The color is entirely from my Mom's side. All of her brothers and my Mom were prematurely gray. I sort of like it. I have a full head of hair as well, which my wife told me was a "Deal Breaker" if I had been bald, so I'm lucky to have my wife! My Dad had dark hair until the day he moved on, in his late 70's. His doctor told him he had black hair still because he had an unusual amount of copper in his blood.
I'm greying just as my dad did (early 50s =greying temples spreading with each passing day). But my facial hair went grey 5-7 years ago….. Embrace the Gray! You can run but you can't hide from it without dire consequences….
Same here, only mine is Cherokee. I don't have much trouble with the circle beard, but it gets pretty patchy everywhere else.
Cut me some slack. It was the first time my chin had ever touched a safety razor. I only shave the circle beard once or twice a year at most.
