Have you ever used a brand of blades you couldn't get AT LEAST 3 good shaves from?

All the popular razor blade companies have been featured in this thread.

 

Wow this is almost my exact list. I just tried Shark this week from a sample pack I bought and I love them Astras too. Not a huge Personna fan though

No. I have used many different "good" blades, without too much difference. But, I have not tried any of the real cheap stuff, or anything from chain stores. Feathers and Gillette Silver Blues are my favorites, and an Astra SP is just about as good for me, too. In any DE razor, mild, aggressive, open comb, closed, vintage, modern, etc., I like the same blades. No more reasons for me to ever buy/try any but the three I mentioned.

 

I've never tried VAN DER HAGEN..but I already know they suck...as all their shaving products do. Anybody used their shaving brush? the bristles start falling off the first time you use it.

 

The Boar brush Is mostly rubbish but their Badger brush is actually quite nice though I use it all the time

Yes, I've only used the boar brush, it was like a cheap broom.

 

I actually use a lot of their soaps..and have a boar brush that has been in my rotation for about 3 years. A favorite of mine. I get just as good a shave from there blades as any.

The only blades I seem to have trouble with is the Feather carbon steel SE blade. The first one I tried did not give but 2 decent shaves.

 

I got some Personna in a sample pack that were really dull on my face straight out of the wrapper. I know there are many kinds of Personna and that some folks really like some versions of their blades. Because it was a sample pack I was never able to confirm what kind of Personna it was; but since then I just generally stay away from Personna. Astra green and the like are much better for my face.

 

Flying Eagle carbon steel blades. I could get a better shave from a rusty pocket knife.

 

I'm a huge fan of their soaps so far not sure what all the hate is about and their razor is the one I use for travel because it's small and inexpensive if lost but definitely does the job.

I tossed a Shark Super Chrome after one shave. It's the only time I've ever dumped a blade after only one shave. I've tried my share of blades and have gotten the best results from the Gillette Super Stainless Green, with the Silver Blue a very close second.

 

I've had success with the Shark SC in my DE89bl. Matter of fact, it's the blade of choice for that razor

 

Derby and Merkur blades have been the worst for me, sometimes not even getting through one pass, let alone several. I like aggressive razors, so Feathers don't work well with me, either.

I have gotten 7 comfortable shaves from a voskhod, but I usually change any blade after three shaves to be on the safe side.

 

I've had good luck with personna lab blue's 6 shaves from one blade I wouldn't push it anymore than that . Bic platinum's on the other hand I thought were terrible cut the crap out of my face
