Hi everyone, thanks for having me on the forum. I'm relatively new to DE shaving having been a user of various multi-blade cartridges for many years. Like a lot of people I realised how expensive this is in cash terms as well as environmentally. So a little about me, my name is Jim, I'm from South Cheshire and I'm currently training to be a priest in the Church of England having worked for many years on the railways. I'm looking forward to learning how to get the best shave I can. Thanks in advance.
Welcome @Jimothy from here in western New York. Glad You decided to join us at TSD. I too switched over to DE, when I decided to move to Africa for missionary work, due to cost and availability; and I never went back to cartridge even when they were available. Let us know what you use for your set up ..... razor, brush, soap, and etc.
Thanks for the welcome. My setup is very simple at the moment as I have the minimum of gear. I use a TOBS real badger brush along with their Sandalwood shaving cream, a Muhle porcelain shaving bowl and a Merkur 33C razor. I'm not enjoying the Merkur blades however - anybody got any suggestions?
Serving the C of E, eh? Good man, welcome to the cracker factory! I’ve used the 33c for 20 years. Good, solid bit of kit. Spot on about Merkur blades. Dreadful product. I purchased a RazorockS 37 slant head, and an old type (read open comb) head. Screw them right on to your 33c handle, great shaves. Give them a whirl.
