Drugstores here in the states (CVS) has Treet Single Edge Blades for real cheap. Maybe a chap here can send you some. Doing an internet search I have found some here but I don't know if they ship to you. http://www.shavesite.com/product.php?brand=15 Treet, Gem and PAL. Welcome Aboard
Thanks for that. I have actually found a supplier in the UK for Gem Blue Star blades: www dot suffolksupplies dot co dot uk (site won't let me post a link yet, sorry) who will supply 10 blades (2x5) for 4.90 GBP. The site you mention does the same blades for 5.00 USD, but by the time shipping is added they are 11.95 USD, which is roughly the same price after conversion - and that's shipping to US, not UK. I imagine that would be uneconomical for me, but thanks for the link anyway. I have taken the plunge and bought a pair of straight razors with strop and paste - a kind of beginners' kit. Should arrive in a few days. Strangely, I am quite excited by this. After watching my Dad wet-shave for years, as a child, and then having had a full beard myself from 18 years onwards (i.e. for the last 36 years), I am really enjoying the morning ritual. I'd quite like to go the whole way, but my wife has made me promise not to touch the mini-beard/tash combo that I am sporting at present. We'll see ...
Bad form to follow up one's own post, I know, but: http://www.suffolksupplies.co.uk/ Now that I have the requisite number of posts, I can post this link - may be of some interest to UK members.
Oh we already know! I have ordered his bladesampler.. and he posts on this forum, so I don't think anyone will mind
I have run across some information in my travels around cyberspace which tells me that Ever Ready got out of the business of making razor blades many years ago. The only place where I have found single edge blades was razorandbrush. I believe that the brand name over there is Looks. The owner of the company is Italian and should be able to shed some light on fitting your single edge razor, way more information then I have on the subject.
Thanks again for the welcomes, folks. Right, thanks to eBay, there is a pair of straight razors with strop and paste, an Ever Ready vintage safety razor, and a number of appropriate blades on their way to Pembrokshire, and a further bid on a nice Ever Ready in its original Bakelite case to close in a couple of days. All cheap - I'll see how it all goes before I spend serious money on my new hobby There will be blood on the carpet by the weekend!
