Hello Fellow Shave Enthusiasts! At the ripe age of mid fifties, I have decided to once again give wet-shaving a go. Just the other day I shaved with a safety razor for the first time ever. I believe this can be a very enjoyable and "safe" hobby. I once was a pipe and cigar enthusiast, but decided this had less adverse side effects. I got a starter kit from Stirling and am picking up bits and pieces as I go. I am currently awaiting a shipment from Amazon. Any tips for this newbie would be greatly appreciated! God bless you all, and thank you for welcoming me aboard!
Welcome aboard! We've a couple things in common, besides this shaving hobby. I'm a pastor in New Jersey and Dad was born in West Virginia. He was Air Force, I was Air Force, thus my being born in Maine and pastoring in NJ.
Would you believe that my dad was from Paterson, New Jersey? He was a tour-bus driver. What church do you pastor? I pastor Judson Baptist Church in Belle, West Virginia.
Living Hope Christian Church, Cherry Hill, NJ. Non-denominational. Bible believing, gospel preaching, life giving. Faith in Jesus is our only hope for eternal salvation. Genesis to Revelation and everything in-between. And Dad grew up in Weirton, WV.
Welcome aboard @Pastor Charlie Good choice on dumping the tobacco, starting with the Stirling and joining the Den! Tips? Whew where to start? What I did just over two years ago. Lock the doors, take the phone off the hook (or mute if you prefer!) grab some snacks and enjoy all the posts on the TSD. Could take a while!
@Pastor Charlie from here in western NY. Glad you decided to join us here at TSD. I as well enjoy a fine cigar, but treat it as cheesecake only on special occasions. YouTube has a few great instructors for beginning wet shavers. Personally I find GeoFatBoy pleasant and informative.
Welcome to TSD, Pastor. As you may have discovered by now, many wet-shaving artisans have soaps&aftershaves of pipe and cigar scents.
