Been wet shaving just over a month. I am on another forum and saw this one and decided more the merrier. Well thats what I'm telling myself. I started with straights and am just adding de razors in as well. Currently I alternate between a straight and a de.
Wanted something that would force me to slow down and give me a little peace. Straights take longer to shave with so went with them first. Also, kinda looks more bada** using a straight. So that really appealed to me.
Welcome to TSD @Suhrim21! Glad you chose to sing up. The TSD database is deep so feel free to search around. If you don't find answers to your questions, this is your own personal thread right here. If you ask here, this is where your opinions, answers, even actual information will be. That was my path, too. Got interested in Wet Shaving by way of an uninformed purchase and ended up with a RSO (razor shaped object). Most folks go the other way and start with a DE while getting interested in open blade types later. The good news is many of the skills cross over. The wet goopy lather that works well for a SR is also great when DE shaving. Learning blade angles with a SR improves DE beard reduction. If you have questions about lather making, SR blade maintenance, DE blades, soaps, brushes, etc come visit The 30 Day Rule / Focus Group. There's a link in my signature below. It's a gathering of New Shavers learning vintage gear, and Vintage Shavers trying out new razors. We also talk other hobbies, family, work, BBQ, adult beverages, and the occasional Shenanigans.
