I've not seen one like this before. I'm guessing it's ladies razor, but I'm not sure. Anyhow, it cleaned up very well and looks near new. (I have the case too)
Wow!! Ok, thanks very much. I thought about "loaning" it to the War Department, but I'm having second thoughts now. After this mornings shave, I'm liking it quite a bit.
However some of the U.K. Twists have a flattened handle. More like a pry bar than round. So usually the Knack name is used for the rounder version and the Slim Twist for the flattened handle in the U.S. to help identification.
Decent head design but the handle was a bad idea, imo. And of course, it's about the only birth year razor I can ever find.
No. In Europe both the Rounded and Flattened handles were both called Slim Twist. In the U.S. the Rounded razor was called the Knack. It was just that the U.S. had the LH Super Adjustable that kept this less expensive razor at bay for so long.
Hmm... so the knurled metal knob is the TTO. So I am assuming all the mechanics are neck up. Could the plastic handle be removed without harming the works I wonder? I am going to have to find one to play with... this gives me an option for birth year I hadn't considered... And if I could customize it with a fancy replate and custom handle. It has the potential to be a fun project. Or an epic disaster. Seems fun either way honestly.
The late CoonCatBob did that work of taking the heads from Knacks and Twists and placing them on new handles. The items below are from his post in the following link. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/knackenstein.23931/page-2#post-415581 I get NOS English Slim Twist from a fellow in Holland. I start out with this. and end up with this. I've also used the Knacks but it's harder to find really nice examples.
I was not the recipient of this. I wish I was. I also wish I had contracted Bob to do some work for me.
