Well, believe it or not, I’m a relative newlywed! Lost my first wife of 43 years to breast cancer in 2012. Married the new one in 2016. Met her in church.

I have been tasked with putting together a romantic dinner tonight. Never did one before. I’m going to do my spaghetti and sausage meatballs, but would appreciate any other recommendations. Also doing flowers! What else should I be thinking about?? Any and all serious recommendations welcomed!

With Spaghetti and Sausage/Meatballs, a nice bottle of Italian Chianti, refrigerated, no ice when serving, should do very well.

    Good Luck!

Yes. What Johnnyflake said. And maybe a nice dessert as well. You got this.

Flourless chocolate cake w/ berries and whipped cream or ice cream. Can't go wrong.

A small cheesecake might be appreciated as well.

Candle light is also a nice touch, if it’s practical for you.

Dessert wise, you cannot beat a good old Italian Cannoli!

A hand written note, professing your love. Sorry about the loss of your first wife. Congratulations on finding a second life-partner. You are a fortunate man.

I agree with all of the above posts especially the connoli for desert, but to really make this a romantic dinner sit her down at the table go into the kitchen and put on your best pair of red short shorts and serve the dinner.
    It should work out well.

One more dessert suggestion that just came to mind. Affogato. If you have one of those Bialetti Moka Pots, brew up some nice dark coffee in that. Then pour two shots of coffee. Serve some vanilla ice cream in a nice dish. Then you pour the shot over the ice cream. A to die for combination.

A little soft, low, and easy music! Violins would be nice. A lot of good online sources for quick access to music.

Thanks to everyone for their great suggestions! The child bride gets home around 6 EST. Have incorporated many of the great suggestions here! Thanks! Have some cool jazz playing in the background, some Prosecco to toast with and a nice Chianti. She loves carrot cake, so I picked one up. Here goes!!! Thanks to all.

I like the way you think. That's exactly how I make mine. And then drizzle some caramel on top...wow!

I've not done the caramel. Will have to try that one next time. Sounds delish.
