If you become like many of us, shaving will become a "get to", not a "have to", and you may find yourself slowig down and enjoying the Me Time.
Is this a good place to start? https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai...ahUKEwjKzPz5kO3QAhWowlQKHcYHAxQQqCsIBg&adurl=
Is the Classified section here on TSD a good place to pick up stuff for the beginner or novice? Or Amazon or ebay?
Welcome Jason. I spent a year and a half in Emporia myself. If I am in a hurry, I will still use Noxema canned shave cream. But I really got to liking a good shave soap lathered up with a brush. Some good blades in that sample pack. Try the Astra blades and compare them to the rest. They are great blades and can be found on Ebay for less than $10 shipped for 100 blades. Several other good brands there also.
Items in the Buy/Sell/Trade section of shave forums are more likely to be honestly portraied than a commercial site. Peer Review means folks are risking their Forum Reputation on the items available. Amazon is in the business of moving products, good or bad, they don't care so much. Buying from ebay is hit or miss; the seller may have no idea if the item even works. Not saying you can't get good stuff from Amazon or the bay, or something you won't enjoy from a forum member. Research, trial & error, and developing your preferences is part of the experience. A good way to see what others are enjoying is the Shave of the Day thread. If an item interests you, start a new thread asking opinions from users. You'll get Fanbois and those that tried and disliked. Then it's up to you to invest and see if that Shiny New Thing works for you.
to TSD @Eiklj I hope you enjoy it here. You may want to try a blade sample pack or two. The more different blades you can try the better in your quest for the fastest, smoothest and least irritating shave. Once you find a brand or two or three that you like you can order in bulk and needing to get blades at the grocery store will be a thing of the past. I haven't had to buy a blade on line in years and from a store in MANY years.
Howdy Jason, All the way from Oklahoma. I'm new to all of it. Still trying to figure out my favorite blades. I thank the Astra SP's are tops so far for my beard, but am still trying others.
Welcome to the Den my friend. Ask questions, read the forums, there's a lot of knowledge to pick up on here. If you haven't already be sure to register for the Newbie Giveaway. I am giving away some Arko soap and 40 blade sampler. You never know, you just might win.
