You may want to shield yourselves with your dessert menu. Don't click if easily ick'd. https://ibb.co/d5bKDT Actually doesn't look too bad now but the torn mass was laid open and compressed halfway down the side. For not being a clean slice, should leave a dandy scar but it's healing nicely. The lighter, infective looking part on top is just torn skin that will need trimmed off at some point.
Ouch! A friend of mine was instructed by his father to spit when injured. (Not on yourself, just spit!) He taught his daughters the same home remedy. It think it may still help in this case. No physician's fee required.
I use to keep a sewing kit, super glue and iso in my field med kit along along with assorted meds and dressings.
As you might have guessed, I’m a mason by trade. I was moved into the office to be an estimator, project manager, and road superintendent several years ago. I have had and seen all kinds of nasty things happen to fingers over the years. I can’t stand wearing gloves, and taped my fingers every day for years. Laying brick, especially damp brick just wears out your fingers. The skin is rubbed off by the brick faster than it can grow, very painful. We call them blowouts. I remember having to get my finger prints taken, to get on some military bases years ago. Most of them came back unreadable.
Here’s a home remedy. Growing up on a farm we always had this around. This drawing salve is great for removing splinters, or popping boils. If you can’t find, or remove a splitter, put some salve over the area and cover with a bandage. Most of the time the splitter is gone in a day or two. I always keep some on hand. We also put turpentine on cuts, and bee stings. Oh and chewing tobacco, or toothpaste on bee stings. My wife’s a nurse, and she calls me and my brother a bunch of hillbilly’s for the things we do to avoid going to the doctors. We’ve patched each other up a lot over the years. Thank you for leaving the image behind a click. I maintain a cool head when I or someone else is injured. Doesn't mean I like looking at mashed parts. Now should we all go visit the Does this look infected thread?
Thanks for asking. Slight numbness of the side of the thumb, which I figure is nerves still reconnecting themselves...was itching like mad a few weeks ago, I figure it'll be awhile yet. The joints of the thumb are often stiff, almost arthritic, but that's slowly been improving as well. There's no scar to speak of because it looks like a normal crease. In other health news, I woke up with a spider bite on my arm. Looks like a recluse bite, which I had when I was a kid. Have it soaking in a combination of calamine and bentonite clay under a bandaid, to help draw out the venom. I'll know in a day or two if it's being digested and going necrotic and need to have it looked at.
