Have you guys made your own straight razor??..and how did you do that and what steel did you use? How do you make scales and what wood sort. I have yoused carbon steel and japanese steel. As a scale i use ebony wood, african dark wood and other hard wood sorts. I use a 60 gritt grinder for the razor at first, and shift to 120 gritt.Then hardening the steel and hone at steel plade. 1000 gritt to set the bevel and then 2000 gritt. After that wetstones 3000 and 8000 gritt. Strop with paste (10000 gritt) and on leather strop. Cut the wood and grind it and put the razor together. And hope it´s ready to shave...
