I usually don’t price my gear, but anyone can do as they wish.

Won this 60-cut (190 x 70) on a fitted stand with a lowball snipe that I didn’t expect to win. I’ve gotten good and not-so-good stones from this fellow, mostly good. It looks good. Seller’s images.

Will do Glen. I look for the fitted stands, the stones are usually better.

Well, I’ve been a busy boy, that’s why I haven’t posted may SOTDs, too busy testing stones.

I’ve gotten in two large JNat koppas, a (probably) deep rock coticule, and a lot of nagura.

In the image below, the koma and the small stone are part of the lot, the other stones had been oiled and are soaking away to remove the oil.

The koppas are excellent razor grade, though the coffin shaped one on the left has a glassy line and a divot that needed stabilizing. Too early to tell about this one but if the line proves to be a problem my pals will getting tomo nagura! The smaller darker one is more pure and larger than most barber-sized JNats.

The coticule was dirty and I got it for the opening price. It looks deep rock but these are usually hard and not the best razor grade, but they are fast. This one is not hard, and on oil makes a great shaving edge, less so on water. It’s mind-boggling fast, and will easily cut hard, wear-resistant SLD and R2. I needed to burnish after lapping as both sides were dished, so I did up a couple of R2 knives and cutting a tomato skin was effortless.

A little sandpaper fixed the coti up just fine, though I lapped all 6 sides. The previous owner(s) had been sharpening fish hooks or awls on the sides so the sidesneeded lapping too.

Won a big one today, an Ozaki. The price was actually very good for the size, 205 x 80 x 37mm. JNats prices go up exponentially with size and there’s an additional ‘step up’ at 80mm width as these stones are good for 80mm plane blades. I think that the price was lower because it was described as hard and needed some skill to use, but made a mirror finish. Hard, super fine stones can be a pain to use with knives and tools, but that’s kind of the definition of a stone that might be an excellent razor finisher. I liked the looks of it.

Just getting around to this thread. A lot of nice rocks. And Steve just has too many. Ok, maybe not too many but...

It seems my pics are just too big so i wont be sharing. And dont tell me about some app or software. Im lucky enough to post words unless its easy. Oh well.

I picked up a new La Lune. Got the label sealed and will make a box for it.

    Keep posting those rocks.

A pretty, cased, unknown stone incoming. My initial thought was Blue Dalmore (again), but stone gurus have said it's far more likely to be a Llyn Idwal.
Because they don't want to admit paying $300-500 on a gut feeling. Especially if it turns out to be a door stop.

I'll admit I paid $33.75 + shipping for this one.

    Edit: 6" x 1.75"

Having grown up in the South, it was/is many times considered rude for someone to ask what you paid for your personal possessions.

JNat prices are easy to find, but I might also add that the most expensive stone right now is arguably the labeled Escher. I don’t know of any JNat the size of a boxed and labeled Barber’s Delight that will bring that money.

Mike-R41 hasn’t been seen in 4 months, his last post seems to have been selling off his shaving gear.

    Nice stone Ryan.

Thank you. What is your opinion on it? Look like a Llyn to you?

I’m not that much of an expert on the UK stones, I’d have to defer to the experts. Tom Sliwa (rideon66) or Oli (cotedupuy) on B&B are two of the most knowledgeable that I know.
