My barber in Marietta Ca turned me on to wet shaving and wanting more info I went to Google and found this forum and others. I tried one other and they seemed a little rude and then I found TSD and you all made me feel like I belonged here. This is a great group of people and I recommend all lurkers to join this great family And share your knowledge or ask your questions. http://www.eugenescleancut.com/ I highly recommend him if you are in SoCal
I had been on another shave forum which I found by accident one day and never looked for other forums as I didn't imagine there would much of a demand for such places! Sometime later one of the folks that wrote a lot of interesting posts went missing and I found out he was over here, so I sort of came here too. I have been back and forwards between the two forums and like them both for what they art.
It must have been a simple interweb search that led me here. I come back for the great information and camaraderie!
I started off on XYZ. Those guys are either a bit too uptight or to full of themselves. So, a little Googling and I found TSD. Everyone here seems more relaxed and ready to help out, if it should be on advice or just the friendly comments. I have used a DE for 6 years now, but have recently discovered wet shaving. I have a lot of questions from time to time. Some may have a "plain as day" answer, were as other may need a little more explaining. XYZ board offers sarcastic remarks whereas TSD has TRUE answers, words of wisdom, and the willingness to share experience.
Funny - I was talking to a customer of mine today about wet shaving. After checking in on a cigar forum I frequent, I just googled wet shaving forums and saw this one. Seemed like a cool group of folks --
After trying multi-bladed cartridges, electrics, etc., I read an article on wet shaving on The Art of Manliness website. I googled wet shaving and came up with several forums including TSD. I lurked in these forums and eventually decided that I liked TSD the best. Learned enough to select a wet shaving setup that worked for me, then joined TSD and have never looked back. This forum and the people on it are the best!
I just googled wetshaving or something and added forum to the search or something =P The shave den appealed to me more than badger and blade, so I signed up. I wanted to have somewhere I can ask questions and get replies to learn more, plus my girlfriend was tired of me talking her ear of about shaving hahaha
A few weeks ago that infomercial for the safety razor showed up on a channel that was tuned in. Caught just a minute of it but it stuck in my memory enough to Google about later. WOW. Found this place right off and glad I did. Everyone is helpful and friendly. I've been to that other board that has been mentioned. I have found some snark there. Just having a fun time learning here and hoping not to go broke. Thanks TSD!
Like others I found this place when I first started wet shaving with a safety razor. Great place for newbies. Great information, solid advice and a welcoming community. I posted a lot when I first joined with lots of questions. I may not post much now as I try to not repeat what others have already said, but I am still here and actively read the posts every day.
I think I was searching google about how to lather with a brush, and came across the Den. I'm still trying to figure out how to lather with a brush. :-/
It will come =) just practice practice practice =P I still don't get the best lather but it's good enough for a good shave =D
I got banned from B&B because I replied to a post. The original post was from someone looking for a fat boy, but he thought they were too high priced on Ebay. I apparently crossed the line when I asked what he thought was a reasonable price.
Pretty easy since I have this site bookmarked. Every morning I can still find this site, despite being coffee-deprived at times...
