We use an empty squeeze mayo bottle. Already had a narrow slit of an opening for dispensing the mayo. Had to lengthen the slit, but it will hold a whole lot of blades. Then they can be tossed out safely, or dropped off at the Hazmat disposal facility. These are actually considered Bio Medical Hazardous waste because they contain biomaterial from shaving LOL
Oh it was a blast! Cant post pics b/c of descency rules. He had a stripper(a guests daughter-not hired) and a chick with some....well silicone enhanced features Good times! Next time you are in Atlanta let me know! Folks get a bad stereotype b/c downtown. Its not really that bad Now I think of it.....there was a DE blade in one of those bags in that barrel
This was a one-off but it worked... While visiting a friend in Scotland I was drinking a can of Irn-Bru (Scotland's most famous soft drink). The next morning, after shaving, I took the Irn-Bru can out of the trash, slightly bent the used razor (the vertical way) and put it through the opening in the can. I then turned the "pop top" attachment around so it crossed the opening. The blade could not get out and no one could get hurt, including the trash collectors. Why take the risk of someone getting hurt when there can be a simple solution at hand?
I bought (actually given as a gift) a thing of Nivea after shave balm and I cut a slit in the top of the box. It holds all the razors I can eat.
Do any of you at all label the containers you place the used blades in or are you just disposing of them as usual?
I haven't even come close to filling my first blade bank but your idea is an excellent one and I shall keep it in mind when I get ready to dispose of it. Thanks.
An empty Altoids can works for me. When full, super glue the top shut and wrap with Duct Tape and toss it. Chances of anyone getting hurt, minimal. Or you can purchase a blade bank from one of the several reputable shaving web sites and the problem is solved. Michael also makes his out of empty canned milk cans. He uses the can opener to pock holes to drain/pour out the milk and when empty cuts a small slice near the top edge of the can just large enough for a DE razor blade to fit. When full, he beats it flat with a hammer and tosses in the garbage, problem solved. Not very pretty sitting in the B room, but effective.
I am using something like this: It is in the top shelve of the cabinet, but this reminds me I need to cover the drawings with tape so my kids do not get any funny ideas (although they cannot reach it, better safe than sorry....)
And there are some really excellent ideas out there. That's one of the reasons TSD gets happy088 (Two Thumbs Up!)
I drained a unopened can of coke, by poking a hole in the bottom of it. It cheap and reusing/ recycling an item. Plus I got to drink the coke.
... except for the people who have to sort through the recyclables and figure out what is in the metal can that is recyclable.
I sealed up an empty mints tin with industrial grade duct tape and cut a slot in the bottom. Its not pretty but it gets the job done.
Old Proraso soap tub here - blades dropped in it and it's kept out of everyone's reach but mine. When it gets full (about another 18-24 months I reckon) I'll tip them into an empty steel can, hammer it shut and toss it in the recycling then start again on the refilling the old Proraso tub.
