How do you guys dispose of your used DE's?

I don't understand the question. After a year of double edge shaving, I'm still on my first blade. You're supposed to throw them away? :D Anyone know a good plastic surgeon?

I use a moist towelette cylinder. I cut a slit in the top with an old butter knife I heated in the flame of my stove and melted a slit just wide enough for a blade. When it gets full I'll take the blades to be recycled.

Blade bank bought for 99 cents at ems place (available on many other shaving sites, too). It's worth a buck for me to make sure no one ever gets cut on one of my old blades. The blade bank fits easily in my medicine cabinet. I like to soup can/milk can idea, too.

You are probably ready to flip your blade over now and use the other side :D

    This is certainly useful.
I didn't wanted one of this 'cause we don't have (afaik) a way to dispose this kind of waste. Storing it in a big can sounds adecuate and while the can fills up I will have enough time to figure ou what to do with it when it's filled. I don't want to throw a can filled with DEs... The recycling part is the hard one.

This was the main reason why I decided to focus on SR but deppending on the answers I get on my other thread and the tips learned here I might chage my mind and move to DE. .. or maybe I'll get both haha!
My GF better not knows I'm getting into this new hobby or she will kill me for doing such an investment :p

    -:Edit:-
I know my country has a recyclable service for soda cans. are the blades able to be recycled this way too... I mean, would it be ok if I send them a can full of blades? (yes, I know how strange the question sounds)

I know something about recycling facilities, at least in the USA. If mixed materials are recieved into the facility, someone has to sort it out. For this reason, many areas require residents to do a lot of the sorting. If a can full of an unkown item is received, someone either has to determine the contents (or sell it "as is" to someone else who will have to so) or it goes to the landfill.

If a can of razor blades is received around here, it most likely it will just go to a landfill as contaminated recyclable material. If a careful recycling employee cares to determine the contents, s/he is likely to find her/his hands in a dangerous situation. All told, and from what I have seen, the safest disposal method I can think of would be to enclose the used blades in an unbreakable container (such as a metal can), seal it, and direct it to a landfill, not a recycling facility.

Recycling, by the way, is not nearly the clean endeavor most people think it is. It requires lots more shipping and cleaning than you might think, and I have my doubts as to whether it is more environmentally friendly than using a landfill to recycle things long-term.

    Thanx a lot Dewaine.
:) I think that's the best solution for me: Unbreakable container + landfill or Backyard
I know the US landfills are controlled environments... which means really poor people does not sneak into them to see what can they find I whish I could say the same about ours... so I will think about it (that's why I mentioned the Backyard). I don't want to send a can full of blades if there is a chance for someoen to do something bad/dumb. (if someone gets hurt it would be my responsibility)

Anyways. If I pick up a big can, by the time it's filled maybe a good recycling factory comes here :D
Right now... I can't decide if the DE or the SR arrrgh!! I whish I had 2 chins with big beards.
