I bought a basic burr grinder some months back. It does make a difference, glad to have it. But when I got it, I was actually looking for something on Christmas special that had already vanished and I hadn't seen one since. It's one of these, the red one. The Wife picked up one today in the Walmart clearance aisle, a pre-Father's Day surprise, so good deal if it works; she loves the brew I get out of the ancient Coffeemaster but can't stand using it herself. It's blade, not burr, but you can't have everything. Or if you can, I can't afford it.

The Silex is the old fashion type of brewing coffee in vacuum pot. Below is they Sono model that he uses and the pot is identical to what I am using at home. Have 2 stove types and table top unit. They make some very, very good cups of joe. 23 grams Brazilian Daterra roasted with Sonofresco setting 4 via Silex Vacuum Pot 24 gms French Roast Sumatra via Silex Vacuum Pot 23 gms French Roast Sumatra via Silex Vacuum Pot 23 grams of Colombian Nariño natural process via Cory vacuum pot
Hey, @Erik Redd how's the home roasting coming along? Tell us again how easy it is and how great it tastes. *a soft elbow nudge into @richgem 's ribs
My favorite has been Montecristo 1935 Havana Blend beans from JR Cigars. Grind them when needed and brew in a Mr Coffee at the moment until I get a Hamilton Beach Brew Station.
When I make coffee at home, and that's infrequent, I use a press pot. This am was some kona steeped with 180* water. I like the simplicity of the press pot. I keep a electric kettle on the counter and it allows the control of the temp, which is nice for coffee and tea. Most mornings I have tea, PG Tips, at home and then switch to coffee at work. There it's usually eight o'clock French roast in a drip maker. Not particularly a coffee snob but I have some standards, and that's an acceptable day to day brew for me. Seeing I buy the coffee, I can get what I want. Sometimes I'll buy a breakfast blend or coloumbian for the office.
