Myself, from Monday-Thursday, I wear stylish pants and shirts, and occasionally even a tie. Because I work with fur skins, I also always wear a lab coat to keep the hair and dirt off my clothes. On Friday, I wear jeans and often a t shirt and sneakers. My staff can dress any way they choose, as long as they are wearing clean clothes and not torn jeans or shirts.
You can rock good style and it doesn't have to be expensive. Kohls, TJ Maxx, and other discount stores carry all the expensive name brand stuff at closeout prices. I always get my socks and undies from the Walmart though.
Not all flip-flops are the same design. Mine don't have anything that goes in between the toes. And they are my most comfortable shoes I own - padded foot area, leather body, simple.
This is absolutely not true about plantar fasciitis & heel spurs. The actual culprit of these things are poor biomechanics of the 26 bones of the foot & trapping them in rigid shoes that don't allow your foot to work properly. The barefoot shoe movement is much healthier for our feet than traditional Nike style tennis & running shoes. I find sandals are actualy healthier for your feet as long as your feet are structurally sound. Yes some people need support, but our current popular shoes are really creating these problems even while they are marketed as ways to support your feet & keep them healthy. Bottom line, keep enjoying your sandals y'all!
We'll agree to disagree then. I understand the whole barefoot movement but those runners are missing a key point IMO. The human foot was not designed to walk on concrete, asphalt, hard wood, and tile. If we're talking about walking on grass or sand then I'd support it. But it's all good, different strokes for different folks.
The foot still needs to move. Cushion is needed, but hopefully not at the expense of weakening our feet & causing even worse problems. If shoes would keep the heel on the same level as the forefoot, then they would be much better. Unfortunately, most shoes jack up the heel which shortens the Achilles tendon which then leads to plantar fasciitis & heel spurs. Nothin to disagree about, just facts needing to be shared as media puts out tons of misinformation.
If sandals were good enough for JC, they're good enough for me. Besides, the flip flops are only worn when outside to avoid sand spurs ( a brutal little weed product in Fl.) or to keep from burning blisters on my soles. Now, as a kid, my bared feet were well conditioned enough in the summer to walk on hot asphalt and/ or gravel roads. Ah, the good old days.
I'll pass on the sandals and/or flip-flops. Shoes or sneaks. Actually wearing some Harley riding boots today, not a high gloss, but polished enough to hide any scuffing; jeans and a button down shirt, tucked in, of course.
I totally agree. Though, I still don't like buying even the underwear at wal-mart because it doesn't seem as well made. I suspect even the name brands are making different products to give to wal-mart to sell for a lower price. They always seem to fall apart more quickly. Then again, maybe that's just the conspiracy theorist in me.
I won't pick on Walmart because this happens allot with many vendors. Example: If you go into an Eddie Bauer outlet store you see all of these Chino pants for 1/2 what they are in the regular store,,,,,,,, until you come to realize the regular store carries different pants that has much thicker material and are made much better. Maybe someone with more info can dispute this, but seems to me I see this with a lot of Outlet Store stuff (not saying that all outlet store merchandise is like this, just some) About the only Eddie Bauer stuff I buy is clearance stuff at the regular store. For the record, I often shop at places like Marshall's and TJ MAX, occasionally Kohl's. I also buy allot at retail stores, but seldom unless its on sale for 40%+ off retail price. Dillard's typically has GREAT sales on end of season items.
I'm a teacher, and while our dress code is fairly lenient, I tend to wear pressed dress pants (I like a nice crease) and a pressed shirt all school days. Most of the time, probably 15 to 18 of the school days per month, I wear a tie. It's not just what you wear, though, that makes your presentation impressive; think back to the 'Old Days.' Grandpa was always confident, always sure of himself, and always dressed nicely. It's those that all go together well to make a true gentlemen!
Running, especially if you are a heel-striker, will force your heel higher and higher up, thus shortening even further the achilles tendon. If you aren't seriously stretching both calf muscles in each leg after each run, then yes, running will contribute to your plantar fasciitis. The worst the flops & sandals will do is create soreness in your over-tight calves since your heel will be lower and thus giving a constant stretch.
I am actually a forefoot striker. Guy at the running store (whose opinion I value), seems to think I wasn't stretching properly and/or enough. After he showed me some foot-specific stretches, I think he was right. Now, if I could only not be lazy about implementing what he showed me.
Very good! Tight calves and achilles are what lead to those things so you are doing the right stuff to help prevent those injuries from occurring. Keep at 'em though. My apologies to the OP for this getting off topic. As WW said, I think we're done.
Some people (in reality most I encounter) look at me and think that I have no self respect...that im ill mannered...or im just a drug addict criminal......yep you fellas guessed it....im heavily tattooed from my neck down to my toes....my usual attire during the summer months accomodate either a tank top, tshirt,or a button up hawaiian style shirt......slim fit shorts and the best pair of flip flops I can afford.....im a beach bum residing in Oklahoma who wishes to soon live on the sunny emerald water lined coast of Florida. In the winter im quite the casual individual.....i got a nice heavy pea coat...scarf....nice jeans and some slip on shoes to match.....I enjoy nice watches ....i only have two haha....no rings except my wedding band....no necklaces......however my ears are stretched to nearly 1 1/2" ....both sides of my nose are pierced....my lip is pierced....all of which are stretched to bigger than the average size.....im a walking attraction.....most people don hesitate to ask me questions and such but the ones I honestly loath...are those who dont WANT to ask me questions as they sit and stare at me like im scum of the earth....but once people sit and talk to me......im nothing of the sort.....I might not look professional but my god I present myself in such a manner that will make people do a double take thinkin to themselves " wow i didnt expect that from him".....point of my story is......i dont think look is that important as long as you keep yourself clean....and present yourself in a respectable manner personality wise. I understand a lot of careers call for a nice dress code...but just because people want to be comfortable out of work does not IMO make them any less respectable...(times are changing and society is nowhere near as conservative as it once was backin the day).....which is kind of the incinuation that I get from a few on this thread.....I accept people for who they are not what they dress like. No disrespect to the hardcore casual dressers on here what so ever.....Im simply adding in my few cents worth.
