How doyou decide what razor to use?

Same here, I love the consistency that comes with sticking with one razor. It takes a couple days to get my technique back when I switch to another razor. Even Schick Injectors can be different with each model. Aces!

Ok let me display my ignorance. Is the wilky sticky a wilkinson sword classic? If it is I have one on the way. It will take a bit shipping from the UK to the colonies

Not a classic. It's a wilkinson sword sticky. A razor from the 70's sold in Europe and the states, but a little thin on the ground now days. Have a Google, there's plenty of info on them. I love mine. It's very mild, and for me needs pairing with a sharp blade, but a few of the guys on here have them I believe. I know @Darkbulb has one..... I think.

Let me know about the classic. Do fancy one.

 

Its the same thing with me. First 2-3 shaves is so so, then I get my groove back.

I typically use a particular razor 2-weeks to a month and then switch up. I usually shave 5-times a week so blade change is once a week. Soaps/creams /brushes are usually more frequently. I have the stuff so I might as well use it.

 

Thanks for the reply, I did google it, another interesting razor. I'll let you know about the classic, it will be 4-6 week before it arrives. This reminds me of the old days of "mail order".

 

I've been being lazy and using an injector recently. I got 6 packs of persona injector blades for christmas. I find myself gravitating back towards DE's. It really depends on how long it has been since I have shaved. If it's an absurd amount of time I'll use my Black Beauty on (9) WTG and (5) ATG for a great shave. If it's been a few days I'll use the Sheraton. 2 days or less a Fat Handle Tech

 

I usually use a razor for a week at a time. I don't have any set rotation, so I choose whatever razor I feel like on Sunday when I change. The exception is this month as I am shaving exclusively with my Fatboy.

 

At the momentI use 10 razors. 5 SE & 5 DE. So: one day SE, next day DE and so on.

 

For me it partly depends on how much growth I have. If I shaved the day before I might use a mild razor like my blue tip. If I've went two or three days I might use something more aggressive.

 

I'm on constant search for inspiration.
if I see a razor I like on the sotd threads, I'll use it the next day. sometimes, just whim, sometimes curiosity.
a thread posed the question, slim or fatboy. I'm gonna do a day to day alternation soon to study the difference.
same way with the super speed and the red tip.

 

I am organizing my 2015 shaving into a series of thirty day rules/foci and draw the next's months focus from the thirty day thread guys. This month I am replicating a @GDCarrington exercise on vintage blade life.
