How has traditional wet shaving changed your life?

I look forward to shaving every day now instead of grudgingly shaving every few days. My wife always compliments me on the way I smell now.

For most of my life I've suffered from having combination dry, oily complexion (I'm 58). My face would itch and produce flakes. Face scrubbing, lotions and medicated creams only served to temporarily mask the condition. Scraping my face with disposable razors would often add ugly blotches.

Learning to (wet) shave correctly and using various shaving related products has healed my complexion. What a relief to no longer be cursed with having to walk around looking like the son of Frankenstein's monster.

    Imodium helps.

Wet shaving is a brief time each day to pamper myself. The scents and soaps are a small luxury. I am forced to slow down because it takes more attention than an electric razor. At the conclusion of shaving I am more relaxed and prepared to plow though the day.

I agree with mylesc1234 - it is "me" time.

Wet shaving has changed me in several ways. I used to be scruffy and bearded, and didn't care how o I looked or smelled. I would go days without shaving, usually weeks. I was pretty unhygienic. Now, I wouldn't think of being unshaven for any extended length of time. I now shower and shave regularly, and I even smell better. All thanks to traditional wet shaving, and grooming habits. I never thought I would get into traditional wet shaving as much as I have, but I am glad I did.

Something I had to do as a perpetual chore has become a hobby. Instead of "glad to have that over with ", I put down my razor and think "can't wait until I can do that again ". For me that was profound.

Wet shaving has changed my life and attitude in general quite a bit. I used to shave roughly once or twice a week so I almost always had some stubble, now for the most part I stay clean shaven. I took something I had to do and turned it into a hobby. I love experimenting with new products and it gives me a moment of peace to enjoy the scent of the soap/cream. Something that couldn't be done with canned goo. I also enjoy being part of a community, learning and sharing experiences so we can all get the best shaves possible.

Me too. Morning shave has become a ritual and I'm always on the lookout for products that'll improve the process. Amazing how something that was an unwanted chore for many years became an activity I look forward to once I discovered the benefits of doing it correctly.

Yea technique is important. The first few DE shaves were not that good, took some time to get the blade angle and pressure right, but after that I was hooked.
