Gotta agree there have made several 24 inch "Bench Strops" myself I doubt any one of them cost more than $12 and took minutes to make
A 3" wide bench strop is also, if I may point out, an excellent way for beginners to learn the proper motions before moving to a hanging strop. And if you decide to move to something else you can always add paste and leave them for touch ups.
I wish that I had gone modular, however I have no complaints really about the Theirs Issard extra wide I currently have, though it'll only become a pasted board soon enough.
I use a 2 sided (no name) paddle strop I got from a knife sharpening supplier. I got it 2 yrs ago, but as I recall it was under $20. I like that it is small enough to fit in a drawer.
