Still very new at this, got the parazzo white soft soap, It works well, love the smell of it. Since this is my first soap, i can only compare it to my 'stuff out of a can.' I do find the result bonds to my skin a lot nicer, and mixing it in a bowl is definitively the way to go. Now i just need a good brush i think.
I have absolutely nothing against boar brushes, and Semogue is about as good as it gets, but... There is no such thing as a "soap" brush, or a "cream" brush, or a "face lathering" brush, or a "bowl" lathering brush. All shaving brushes (boar, badger, horse, large, small, synthetic, bulb shape, fan shape) are designed to make lather. All you have to do is learn how. After that, it just comes down to a matter of preference.
I just picked a brush up at a pharmacy here in town, turned out to be a good little brush as far as i can tell, it's an Omega pura setola from italy. It works pretty well, lost a few hairs in the beginning, and none whatsoever now. Uhm, i just realized the soap was called proraso sapone, and my brush was sitting next to it, so i figured it would be better then the walmart stuff lol Sorry if i confused some of you with that mess up, not sure where i got that from.
I'm sure you're right, it is that I find it easier to lather soap with a boar, for me it has more backbone.
Soaps: VDH Deluxe/VDH Glycerin Vitos Extra Super Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes, and Peppercorns Razorock Napoleon's Violet TSD Copal Pyrate Cove Cucumber and Mellon/PC Rose/PC Bay Rum/PC Sandalwood Creams: eShave White Tea Kiss My Face Green Tea and Bamboo/KMF Key Lime/KMF Cool Mint/KMF Fragrance Free SuperMax Ultimate Classic I also have a thing of Pre De Provence, MWF, and Kell's Original Ultra Aloe Black Tea coming in the mail...and I want to try Mike's Natural soap, Mamma Bear soap,TFS, and Klar Kabinett. I think I have a soap problem. Oddly enough I have zero interest in multiple razors or brushes and now that I have found a few good blades that work for me I also have no interest in trying any more blades. What is it about soaps that make folks go crazy?

How many hard soaps? One, a cake of L'Occitane Cade How many soft soaps? None. How many shave sticks? One, Arko I also have one container of Kiss My Face shaving cream. For me, there is no reason to have more on hand. If I want to try a bunch of different soaps, then samples make more sense. They get used up quickly and don't take up much space. Otherwise, I use a soap until it is gone, and then get another one. The alternative is to have a pile of full size cakes of soap that have been used a few times laying around. Hating clutter and mess, and not having much storage space, one soap at a time is fine for me. I'm a wetshaver for practical purposes only, not a hobbyist.
I'll bet there are a a lot of people that would walk on broken glass barefoot to get even one of those soaps. Giovanni's soaps were widely acclaimed as some of the best around. As are JoAnna's soaps. I really do have to try some. Anyone have recommendations for a particularly good scent in a non-mentholated soap? I like menthol, but the non-mentholated part is important.

Normally I wouldn't reply to this type of query as I don't really like the whole salesperson thing, but....... If you want to try my soaps, and based on the scents of the soaps you listed in your previous post in this thread, I'd recommend my current Limited Run shaving soap, Copal. Limited Run soaps are 2 ozs. So fits the "sample" profile fairly well, and the price is inclusive of shipping.
I am really low on the totem pole. I cant decide which ones I really want to try. I want order a bunch of TSD ones, but they take so long to make them. Just a arko stick I shredded into a puck and some arko creams I haven't tried yet is there a need for different soaps?
Nope, it's definitely not necessary to have different soaps if you're happy with the performance of what you have & aren't seeking a variety of scents. I'll always have an obscene number of soaps. I like experiencing different natural ingredients & scents, so shaving soaps are big part of my interest in the hobby. Ash the Soapmiscuous
I guess your right diffrent strokes for diffrent folks as I'm getting to have an obscenely large number of razors and blades and I know that's not necessary but variety is the spice of life
