The only item ruined is me. That is to say, once I started using a DE razor, I was ruined for cartridge razors.
One of the first brushes I ever found after diving into DE Shaving: I wanted to remove the knot and read you could steam it out... It doesn't work on certain handle types...
Then there was one of the first razors I cleaned...a Gold Tech that resulted in my rubbing the gold wash off...and a tech case that I used compressed air on that cleared the dirt and the screen-printed logo off in mere seconds. Now all I do is gentle soap, a soft bristle toothbrush and paper-towel or occasionally a light application of Flitz and a microfiber rag
I’ve recently ruined a vintage Gillette shaving brush . I put it in the ultrasonic cleaner with some hot water . The handle swelled and broke apart. It became very brittle .
Let’s see 2 strops, 2 straights ( one dropped the other was honing error), 2 brushes where I cracked the handle.
Both are good brush brands. Oddly, I like my Omega for harder soaps and my Semogue for softer ones. The SOC is a nice brush, I own one in Cherry.
A few squirts of isopropyl alcohol to clean the oil off my brand new Dovo Best 5/8. The celluloid scales crumbled by 3 stropping laps.
I also once killed an Ever Ready brush with steam. Another brush with a Dremel, before I learned about covering with electrical tape. Razors? I've dropped a couple. A Lord L6, snapped the threads off the top cap. And I put a large dent in the middle of an EJ barleycorn handle. They're quite hollow, you know. Sorry, no pix of any of it.
