    Over-kill for my needs.
I just use equal parts olive oil and castor oil, plus a couple drops of EO to make it smell nice.

I apply after I wash in shower and let it set w while while rinsing and drying off. Acyer my first pass I cant feel the oil on my face. I think the first lather and shave, rinse removes my preshave. I do it,everyday. But sometimes I wonder if its realy doing any good. I like to think it is.

I have tried many blends, and experimented with the oils straight. I found:
-Grape seed protected my skin best, preventing razor burn.
-Castor softened a multi-day growth best, enabling faster mow-down.
-Glycerine produced a very creamy lather with my soap.
-M-Bomb pleased my senses better than fragrance oils which were tricky to get the right proportions.
So, I ended up with this blend: 2 parts castor, 2 parts grape seed, 1 part glycerine, 1 part M-Bomb. I have tried other combos since, but keep returning to this one.

Probably, but I haven't really tested that.

So i made some of the basic recipe. 1 part castor oil and 1 part olive oil. I made a small batch so i only put 2 drops of EO(eucalyptus). It felt really good, i liked the scent aswell.

Found some cool small bottles to put them in. But they dont have a dispenser.. Hmm, dilemma

At the moment I have the oil I made in a bottle like this from IKEA [IMG]

They work really well, so I might just keep it there.

Hi, can I use whatever EO I want? If I recall right there is some that is not good for the skin.

If it says "100% vegetable oil from sandalwood" is it suitable for putting in PSO without smelting my face or something =P

Check to see if it is skin-safe. (The label should say.) But go easy, because you can always add more if it's too weak. But if it's too strong & irritates your skin...well, your skin has suffered. Also, be sparing with mint or eucalyptus.

I made mine just the other day, and it is Amazing!! I have a friend that sells essential oils for one of the top brands, and she let me mix my own essential oils into my pre shave for free! It smells SO good.

    That's a great deal lol

I asked the clerk in the store she said its a NO NO to put the oil on the skin, but she might not have known I was gonna use it in a blend (I might not have been very clear about that) but when I sent an email to customer support, she said I should try it on a little area of skin before using it to check for reactions, that scares me hahaha

PS: it doesnt say on the bottle. it only says that one should not use it "un-diluted" if thats a word

That is, indeed, a word. Sounds like you can blend in into a PSO, but not just put it on, straight out of the bottle. I do recommend a little skin test first.

I will get some then and try them out. I found some nice essential oils in a store and they are reasonably priced =D Im gonna get the sandalwood and maybe lavender.

I actually like my pre-shave oil, 125ml for approximately $ 15.00 from The Bluebeards revenge. But I like experimenting a bit =)

ordered the "Skindicinal Oil Blend" from Em's Place last night. I've been using a 3/2, olive oil/castor oil blend for my pre-shave oil and needed something to give it a kick. 15 bucks for 1/2 oz.

    Description:
Eucalyptus, Lavender, Tea Tree and Myrrh. Has a fresh, light, camphoraceous aroma with a sweet, balsamic undertone. This therapeutic blend is especially beneficial for troubled skin.

For scenting your own unscented products use about 10 to 15 drops of essential oil to your base carrier products for broad scale application. For spot application like a cologne the ration can be increased.

has anyone used sesame oil or avocado oil in their pre-shave?

    Avocado oil...yes.
Sesame oil...not a chance. Sesame oil is one of the stronger smelling (and tasting) edible oils out there.

Ahh, good thing I asked. Saw theese at the grocery store and googled them. It says they have good vitamins or something and that sesame is used in cosmetics.. Wierd

Well good to know, how did the avocado perform?

How did you experience the hazelnut oil blend?

A co-worker in my office has begun to get interested in wet-shaving after a trip to the local AoS store. His wife bought him a new Mühle D89, and he picked up a boar brush & stand at marshall's discount outlet.
He liked the pre-shave oils at AoS, so I told him a simple homemade version: 60% olive oil & 40% castor oil. He comes into my office a few days later with a distressed look.
    "What was the second oil…olive
    and...?
    "Castor,"
    I replied.
"…Ahhhh. That explains a lot…" he said, "…I thought it was weird. It stunk to high heaven!"

Turns out he bought cod liver oil, not castor oil to use in his PSO.
    NOT recommended…
