More rain due tonight, but should be the last of it for a few days. We've had nearly 12 inches of rain this month. The picture below was taken at the levee in my hometown of Rome, Ga. As you can see the river is nearly overflowing it. Normally the river is on the other side of the trees in the background. And lower than the level of the road.

The last few days starting before Christmas have not been very pretty around central South Carolina. Mostly fog, humidity or rain, and more just general wetness for an area still recovering from flooding earlier this year. Here is a picture from earlier that basically sums up mornings lately.

A severe weather front is on the way into Alabama tomorrow, with chance of tornados. Please pray for the folks in Alabama and Mississippi . Strongest threat in northeast Mississippi and northwest Alabama, but most of the western portion of Alabama will have severe weather mid-afternoon. Initially forecasters were calling for a chance of long track tornados, but may be backing off that now.

We got far more of that than we wanted 4/27/11, when a fourth of my town was wiped out by an F4 over a mile wide. Prayers for the safety of people in the affected areas much appreciated.

I echo the sentiments of @BamaT. We in Alabama are on high alert any time a severe weather threat is headed our way since the tragic experiences of April 27, 2011. It is warm and still this morning, temperatures in the upper 60s. Winds are supposed to pick up and gust to around 30-35 mph this afternoon and severe threat will begin to develop.

Be thinking of the folks across the South today and tonight. We have the potential for severe storms and tornadoes, especially in South Mississippi and South Alabama. A rare "enhanced" risk is placed in that area.

Central Alabama now is mild with temps in the 60s, cloudy and dreary skies, with off and on drizzle and rain. We are currently under the "moderate" risk category. It will be a long night!

Cold, but not FREEZING cold. We're getting set for a warm-ish day tomorrow(low 50's).
