I for one am doing my part to help out the whole "Kid's these days suck" phenomena...

Mrs. Gams and I have decided that we enjoy being an aunt and uncle too much to add our own demon-spawn to the population.

Truthfully, I just don't want to have to share my toys.

    ;)

Oooh buddy. Congrats on your self control.

I'll kick in a couple of indulgences.

I think you guys got the point of my post about education: the changes start with the parents. Standardized tests are part of what happens when you let a secondary institution (the State) take over parenting responsibilities. Most/ all the junk could go by the wayside if parents stepped up to the plate and used schools for what they're meant to be- centers of education- instead of using them as State provided babysitters.

Try getting a sinus attack after 5:00 on a Friday (No pharmacist on duty till Monday!) and finding that you don't have any "real" sudafed in the house. I can't take other sinus meds because I have a reaction to antihistamines (go figure). Sudafed PE doesn't do crap. I think PE stands for "Pill-shaped Excrement".

What I reeeeaaaallly love is that stupid ***DING**** YOU ARE A THIEF! that goes off when the 37 IQ checker forgets to de-magnify the government mind-control/personal tracking-- er, I mean RFID tag that they put in an unsightly place on your dvd copy of "American Pie 27: Eugene Levy Makes a House Payment"

And what's up with the glue they use to put the 3 security stickers on DVDs? Why do we live in a world where you can't open a dvd without tearing up the case it's in because the glue is so friggin strong?

Ok, now, has anyone seen my soapbo---oh, nevermind, I was standing on it.

Thanks for noticing! I wish I could claim it as mine, but I got it from here. Mrs. Gams showed it to me.

absolutely, agree 100% (or more...it's possible because I'm a product of state education :rofl)

kids are a free ride on the government/taxpayer for too many people, and school is a free, government/taxpayer paid babysitter so the irresponsible parents can go about being irresponsible (sorry for the cynicism, but it is reality in a lot of cases)
the problems are too numerous, the causes too numerous, the solution too uncomfortable, for us to get out of.
well, actually, I know the answer, but no one wants to hear it, society calls it "revisionist history" these days, if you want a clue...

The question was more of was it going to show up, since I hadn't heard a peep from the seller after the auction closed on Saturday night. It did, and I'm pleased with the item.

No worries on the bail. Had the meter reader dude come look at it again. He advised that they were going to get the paperwork straight, so we will see what kind of revised bill I get.

Wow... I evidently got the soap box warmed up earlier. Sorry to get everyone fired up and bail, but I had kids to attend to this afternoon. Anyway, parents do need to take some charge and quit whining that they can't get their kids to do the work, stop doing their assignments for them, and accept it when their kid doesn't do well because the kid didn't try. Be a parent for once and work with your kid instead of going at the teacher in pointless conferences. Anyway....

When we were young if we pulled this crud, we got paddled at school. Then when we got home we got whooped for real. Yes, sometimes we toed the line or outright crossed it, but we knew were the line was and knew their were consequences. We didn't run the show.

    *sigh*

Now back to your regularly scheduled insanity...

Yup... always loved to see things fly... Gravel and rocks could be scary... but drink boxes, magazines, small toads.... that was another story.

Tech+thin=much better shave than red tip+blue of same vintage as thin ('54).

Still not as close or as a good overall experience as with the better/newer blades, but leagues less trying than this morning.

I'm willing to try the blue in the tech tomorrow to give it a shot at redemption, but otherwise it's going in the "worst ever" thread.
