Tks! Anyone else got 2 cents worth on them?

 

Oh and while I'm thinking on it, Shawn the AOS Sandalwood is very nice stuff!!

 

The Astra blades didn't do it for me. Shave #1 hurt which is never a good sign. I tried stropping them but that didn't help either. Used 3 blades all w/ these lousy results and moved on.

 

if you have to strop a new blade thats a bad sign.

 

Yeah...its a very nice scent. I just sold the soap off though but still held onto the cream. The bathroom fills up with the lovely scent every time I use it. Not as "woodsy" as some of the other sandalwood but still nice. You might want to check the reviews on the Astras. It one of those blades that doesnt have many enemies but is also not talked about tremendously. I did a mini group buy when I was still across the street and unfortunately have run out I basically use 7 oclock yellows and Red IP's now. I have other packs I still use(Dorco 301's, 7 AM's, 7 oclock black, and Feathers) and some generic personnas as well. I just had a crap last shave with a feather and just loaded a 7 oclock yellow in a fatboy for tomorrow assuming my face is healed by then,

Edit: MsB....there are different Astras out there also. I had the green and white pack? superior I believe.

 

Stayed home from trivia tonight b/c I still feel like hell. Have to check on GF's facebook mob/mafia games every hour while shes gone? WTH! Trying to finish a Dean Koontz book which is f'ing creepy as hell. Need to finish soon so I can actually go to bed.

 

I have 2 of the Superior Astra blades. I hadn't hear much discussion of the Astra line at all though.

A lot of people really rave about the Astras. They didn't really do it for me. It seems the people that really like the 7 O'Clock yellows seem to really like the Astras, too. I didn't like the yellows - the blacks are my go to blade. I can put a black in any razor and get a good shave. I just hope the bulk order comes in soon.....

They are good. I did a bulk buy of them before I got hooked on 7 O'Clocks

I would agree.. better than Red Personnas, Derby, or Crystal. However, a notch below 7 O'Clock. IIRC Astra Super Platinum are made in the same factor as one of the Russian made 7 O'Clocks (Sharp/Yellow and one of the Greens).

I don't know why Shep had problems with them, they are good blades for me.

Shep, was that before you tried open combs? Maybe that is why I had better results?

Yeah, I'm finding the yellow 7 o'clocks real similar to the astra superiors and red personnas. I was holding high hopes for the black 7's, maybe too high. they're good, but unfortunately I may have skewed my impression by setting too high expectations

 

Had to run for awhile. Baby isn't doing good. Poor thing can barely breath, puking, fever, ear infection, all that fun kid stuff. Breaks my heart.

Anyway I didn't have the open combs when I was testing Astras, and now I don't know where they are. I'm using Feathers in the open comb which seems to be a good combo. The 7'o blacks are en route to Jo right now and she says when they arrive she'll mail them out even if the store is closed. I'm thinking by the end of next week or beginning of the week following. Just a guess of course. The blacks are far and away the best blade I've come across which is why I bought 20 packs!

Spaghetti for dinner tonight. It's simmering right now.

I was in Wal Mart today and ran across a Burma Shave boar brush. Very unusual find for here; I've never seen one anywhere I look. The box was all beat up like they discovered it in a back corner somewhere. Marked down to $1! However when opened, the knot had come loose from the handle and was in two pieces. It looked very cheap anyway even if it wouldn't have been broken, but still kind of a cool nostalgic find.

Night all. It feels like friday but i guess everyday feels like friday when you are unemployed huh? Oh well.....hearts pounding after i finished the koontz book. The guy is seriously screwed up in the head but damn he can write a good book! About to start a Stuart Woods re-issued book"Chiefs" about deep south politics from the 20-60's in my lovely state of GA. Should be plenty of good ol stereotypical southern topics thrown in the mix. Sorry... dealing with laundry so that wife can pack and visit her parents this weekend, fighting daughter to get ready for bed. And I evidently took a short nap at my keyboard.. hmmm... So I drank over 4 liters of pop today and I am still falling asleep. Dang.. I have built up an immunity to iocane powder... err.. caffeine.
