hmmm, I'll be working til I die anyway, regardless what some jackass tries to do, if that makes you feel any better
didn't you say you had a tummy ache a few days ago?

as for retirement/stocks/economy, all my money is tied up in debt, so "this economy" is really not killing me (yet) :o

With the current rate of economic loss....I have to continue to work until I am 218 years old.

Sorry about the manager. That'll raise hell with the whole company one way or another. We caught one of our accountants with her hand in the cookie jar a few years ago.

    Mark's here!
    everybody quick, lather upside down!
I tried it, but all the blood rushed to my head, dropped my brush and mug, and nearly passed out on my razor...next time, though, I'll use a Merkur blade so at least it won't cut me if I do fall on it....

Well I'm not sure what's going on w/ all this. This guy was supposedly arrested on Friday yet a Google search turns up only one story from Germany. The only other site that has any info is a NATO site that doesn't even exist on Google. So something is weird about all this. We're talking about the federal govts. entire retirement system here. This should be a huge story. Along the lines of Madoff. Bigger even in terms of #'s of people affected. Gonna keep my eyes on this for a few days and then call the board directly to see what's up.

    Afternoon everybody. What's the haps?

I thought it was a guy in your office that worked on retirement stuff... It is a national government guy? Well there's my retirement too, not that it amounts to anything anymore...

Nope. We're talking the I-fund manager with the federal Thrift Savings Plan which oversees all federal civilian and military retirements. You see? This should be huge news. Here is the only site carrying the story so far (besides that funky German site). And I can find no information about "Bored In NATO" on Google. Yet they give links to several top stories. Any ideas?

My thoughts too, but pretty difficult to keep a lid on considering the #'s of people affected. Like I said; I'll give it a few days and then investigate further. Supposedly the TSP website is going to post an announcement on their site soon. Wait and see. I'm not overly concerned about my personal fund (unless the other managers were crooks too); my I-fund holdings were moved a few years ago.

So I left my 2 labs in the garage today because it was below zero wind chill. Go home for lunch and the 1 year old had obviously been bored and ate some tulip bulbs my wife had to plant. Luckily, at school, she mentions this and we find out that tulip bulbs are toxic to dogs. Called the vet and he confirmed the toxicity of these and asked how many he ate. Well, he ate all 12 of them. So we get to pay the vet to make him vomit and watch him for a little while. Even better news is they can get lodged and that requires surgery.

Just for S&Gs I tried searching myself. Three of the 4 sites I clicked on got blocked by AVG Firewall as an attack site. Hmmm......

I've only had that warning one other time, and it was regarding a shaving site of all things....

Gettysburg was fun today. Very interesting to learn about the history and the military strategies, and how much hung on that one single battle (actually several battles ranging over 3 days).

Not to start anything, but an interesting side note I noticed.... The amount of casualties in the 3 day battle at Gettysburg is roughly the same amount of casualties in the Iraq War. Well, American soldiers that is....

I'm exhausted though. Usually I will crash back out in the morning for a few hours to play catch up on sleep. And tomorrow I start my new part-time job orientation, so it's going to be an early night for me tonight! :sleep001

And no time to hit any of the antique stores in Gettysburg....another day. And there are a lot of them out there, too. :happy088

Tracy, I am very sorry to hear this. Personally, I had no idea Tulip bulbs were toxic. I wouldn't have thought twice about having them in the garage with the dogs. Hope it works out as well as it can.

So how did you know I was introducing stars today? As you were posting this I was talking about the stars in the Pterodactyl with a machine gun. OK, actually, I was discussing the fact that a constellation is nothing more than a pattern of stars and that the stars may have nothing to do with each other at all....

Well... I will be working past death it looks like as well. Sorry to hear the crook screwed up things at your work.

Sorry to hear.. Hope he gets well soon.

We are pulling for you. We can't wait until it is done either. :D

    :happy102
Thanks, I needed the laugh! Of course, that just made my back spasm... but it was worth it anyway!

Not much going on here, just checking in between school and afternoon appointments.
