Not to open up a can of worms again, but in some cases there does need to be a delay in time, not just posts to sell in here. It really leaves a bad taste to see someone post a mass of near-gibberish, then stampede directly to the classifieds or the vendor's section once they've filled the quota. Worse still, they're claiming not to be doing exactly what everyone can see them doing.

    Morning, ladies and gents!

Had a decent shave last night... surprisingly good, all things considered.

Used my newest lather bowl to lather up some Clubman Luxury Shaving Cream, which has proven dismal in the past. It fluffed up okay, if a little dry, and did an adequate job. I used a week-old Merkur in my 1930 open comb Empire razor and it shaved to the gritty, bluesy-rockin' sounds of Hadsil Adkins.

Also, watched "The Tailor of Panama" and TWGW rolled her eyes at my shave geekery when I burst out "Hey! Shaving scene!" when the camera panned past a man getting lathered up in a barber shop.

This is currently being discussed and addressed. Unofficially it looks like a 90 day minimum is forthcoming.

Hey Ryan. Good to see you. We thought you'd moved on.

Enjoy! Someday I'd love to get over there. Hell, someday I'd love to get out of here!

If it isn't betraying information.... Would there be a grandfather clause? Eventually I should put some things on the classifieds and was thinking about working on that during Spring Break. Or should I get an earlier start on that project (or plan on waiting another 50+ days)

    Morning everyone.

Just spent the last 2 hours fixing our big HP printer. Those things are nice but when you have to fix a major paper jam they are a PITA.

Justin, sorry to hear about the start to your morning. I hope everything settles down for you.

    Ryan, good to see you.

Shep, sold my Shavemac this morning and now I think I will buy another Rooney.

Bong, what time does our plane leave?

I'm in and out. I read more than anything. Don't have time for much more lately.

Couldn't say about grandfathering, but to make things easy on a volunteer mod force I would tend to think not---I could be wrong though; I'll bring it up. That said there is nothing official yet nor do I have a time frame. Site admins are working on it now. I would prob. get your posts up sooner rather than later, but that is just me talking.

I have never suffered from BAD. I have used three other brushes besides the Rooney. A boar that I wore into the ground after 12 years of use. Then a Kingston I got off Amazon (too floppy--gave it to my kid right away) and a C&E BBB travel brush that I tested when I bought it (too floppy and scratchy--if I ever travel I will use it though). Then I bought the Rooney and haven't looked back. It is such a wonderful brush that works w/ soaps and creams that I have no desire to drop cash on another brush. Not to say I wouldn't like to try or have others; I just don't have a burning desire.

Thanks for the heads-up. We will see if anything is calmer tonight so that I can get pics done (when I finally decide what I am really selling). Why is it so easy to impulse buy and so hard to impulse sell?

Sounds like a touch of BAD there with a happy ending. I was quite happy with my restored brush and thought I wouldn't get BAD. However, it has now started losing a hair here and there (was fine for 6 months). Maybe I didn't set the knot correctly as well as I should... who knows. However, my EJ BBB just doesn't do as good of a job on certain soaps. So I guess budget brush hunting I shall go. That is one of the things I hope to take care of in Chicago this weekend.

Yeah, that C&E/EJ BBB brush isn't all it's made out to be IMO. Loads of guys love it to death. More so over on the B than here I've noticed, but it gets a lot of love. My opinion is it's because the brush is/was available local for so many guys and it was their first brush hence had nothing to compare it to. Frankly I liked my boar brush better than the BBB. As I mentioned the thing is just too floppy and it scratches more than a silvertip or pure. For another 20 or 30 bucks you can go from a Yugo to a Lexus. It's worth it.

Its OK. It works good, but not as good as the super badger knot I have in the old ever-ready. Maybe that it just the route I need to go. Instead of shilling money out to buy a new brush, maybe I will just restore another or maybe even have Rodd do the honors. I really notice the difference when I am trying to get lather from cream or a shaving stick. It just doesn't work as well and I feel irritated from the brush after a while (stiffer, scratchier bristles). Now if I use some soap that easily lathers such as Tabac or p.160 it isn't as big of a change.

Anyone have any experience with Muehle-Pinsel brushes? Merz Apothecary sells them and they are one of my stops on Sunday.

Personally, I think the lowly boar brush gets a bum wrap sometimes. I quite enjoy lathering up with a properly broken-in Burma-shave cheapo. I've got the knots from a couple of clearance buy Burmas that weren't glued properly just itching to be either put back together or loaded into new handles. I'm seriously considering making a custom grip out of polymer clay. Has anyone ever seen/considered making sculpey handled brushes?

It should be noted, however, that my every-day brush is a cheap badger made by Protocol.

I can find little fault with my burma shave boar. It shed a few the first week of use. It's broken in nicely and I can whip up a nice lather with it, so I've been unable to justify buying a more expensive brush. I spent the brush money on razors and soap anyway.

Ever thought of going into the room with the router with the laptop and a small network cable and just starting over from out-of-the box?

Justification you say? Since when did that ever enter into anything? :D
