Bummer for me then. The wife just had here day off changed from Wednesday to Thursday. Oh well, may have to go to opening day alone if I'm off.

As far as this mushroom thing, I admit I am not a big fan, but a friend at work brought some morels in that were just simply sautéed in butter and I thought they were delicious. Had a real nutty flavor if I remember right.

I'm jealous. I can't believe I've never had morels before. I've had many different kinds of mushrooms and for the first time had these today. They're delicious.

Any idea if they grow in MA? :D

Tasted very strong and woodsy to me.

    Very nice, Jim.

Is that the one you're working on for Jen?

no, not at the moment at least. I'm just getting into wood turning...well, I say that, I've been off and on since around October, but we're talking a couple of hours a month at most, just don't have as much time as I'd like to devote to it, but I am enjoying it immensely.
This is technically the first handle I've finished. I've turned several practice blanks, and had one like this almost finished, but a small saw mishap ruined it :o
but, I do enjoy woodworking, so someday I just may try my hand at straight scales

I don't know what regions they grow in. I know they don't grow in WY, mainly because of climate. They are all over NE, IA, MO, and KS.

I wouldn't be surprised to find them in MA. Check the internet for local shrooming clubs and info.

I've never had morrels either, but I'll look for them when the farmer's market opens up.

The last time I went mushroom hunting was in college, many long years ago. Didn't find what we were looking for, but had a fun time anyway. Ah, the good old days (thank goodness I survived them!).

Roll in flour and sautéd in butter is the most common cooking method. I dehydrate extra and add to soups and gravy in the winter.

Yumm... It's been a long time since I've eaten just plain sauteed mushrooms. That sounds really good.

you guys and your gross mushrooms. Ray and I are going to eat candy and cookies while you all have your mushrooms.

Buster is making a bubble nest :) everything I've read says that means he is a happy fishy.
