Wearever made some pretty cool looking pens. They're all 2nd tier and not worth much, but some are fun to look at and most are acceptable writers. One of my heros in the pen restoration world (Cranky Franky, may he RIP) was a Wearever collector. I've got one of my mom's Wearever pens from the early 1960's.

Razors and brushes have brought a whole new dimension to antiquing for me. It's fun to have more than one thing to look for!

You guys must have some nice antique shops around you. Around here we have high priced junke shops with little more to offer than GoodWill or the Salvation Army store. I've found good shavers at the SA tho and some nice mugs. Shhhhhhh

I really can't help you much with str8 razor value. I gave 6.00 for my frederick reynolds and it needed cleaned up, honed, stropped and all.

I'm enjoying the first of a few nights off.
I had a great morning at the range, and I remembered to pick up a couple of items from Lowe's to work on re-knotting those two brushes I bought recently.
The Klenzo is just about de-bristled now, I just needed some better bits to finish cleaning it out. The Ever Ready got here today so I can get started on it soon.

I'll be around for a while tonight, but I think it's dinner time now.

 

Nope. Not related to the April Fool's scare. A pretty nasty set of trojans that he picked up from a vulnerability due to the fact that he hadn't updated Java in a very long time.

The PIF... I think everyone who is contributing has already agreed to do so, so we might as well go ahead and post something. We should try to get the PIF up sooner rather than later - hopefully within the next few days. I'll begin writing up something and then post it here for approval when I get the chance. If you want anything to be included in the PIF post, let me know.

I say it should be a group judging - democratic process sort of thing. I'll be picking up the Musgo Real cream tomorrow.

I think we were talking about someone who has been around TSD for a couple months and posts often.

I believe the essay was a "What TSD means to me" sort of essay.

I've had some luck at the big Salvation Army thrift store over in the city, but other than that just a few horrible str8 razors that weren't worth 5 bucks and nowhere NEAR the prices on them.

The PIF, yeah write something up so we can get it done! We've all pretty much got what we volunteered picked up, on hand, or ordered. On the judging......maybe that should be up to some of the long-term HYDers who knew Rolls best.

 

I haven't been brave enough yet, but I think I'll give it a go in the morning (or on Thursday if I decide to skip a day). I did put a new feather in my $3 ball end Old style and shaved with it this morning (should have wiped the soap scum off the head before I took these shots):




I thought it would be a good idea to shave with something kind of aggressive for a change before I tried the micromatic.

However, I've been using the Palmolive Shave Stick every morning and that stuff is AWESOME!!!

Perfect... If you have to pick just one judge, it should be Jen. The PIF was her idea (and Rolls loved her more than the rest of us).

I agree with Tom, Jen should ABSOLUTELY be a judge. The PIF was her idea.

 

My stance is that anyone that's been part of HYD in the past can be a judge if they like.

 

Why not anyone/everyone who put items in the PIF? that would be very fair and reasonable.

 

I've carried a Scallion by Kershaw/Ken Onion daily for a few years and ike it. It's thin, light and holds a wicked edge.
