Dominic, did you ever have any luck finding Osage Rub?

    Exactly.

I've carried a Kershaw Ken Onion Leek in the past. It's a good assisted open knife, with a very sharp edge. For daily carry, I much prefer my Spyderco Delica, which fits better in my hand and feels more durable.

Good evening, Bill. How are you doing tonight? To answer your question, I have not found any Osage Rub.

Good, turnabout is fair play. Please PM me your address and I'll send a sample your way. Umm you do like menthol right?

Haha. Okay. Thank you very much. I've actually grown to like menthol in aftershaves after disliking it in everything for a long time. I even will use mentholated creams/soaps every now and then.

And I think THAT was the LAST of the viruses on the computer I was working on.

I hope so, they have become very tricky as of late. Just yesterday I was called to my brother in laws to remove PCWin Defender malware. They really are making some of them look official.

It has actually surprised me how difficult this one was to get rid of. Apparently, it's a pretty tricky one.

I was a huge computer guru years ago, but haven't had to deal with much because I know how to keep myself safe and prevent problems on my own computers.

My friend, on the other hand, was using outdated versions of Java, Firefox, and had no antivirus or firewall software. He was just asking for trouble.

Those malware programs are really interesting to me. I did a lot of reading up on them while trying to figure out what was plaguing my friend's computer.

    Yep, that's it...

Nice looking little knife. I'm carrying my old Gerber. Need to sharpen the poor little dude.

    Good guys abound in HYD...

    See what I mean?

    Hey Tom. I'm curious.

What are some of your favorite inks and pens?

My absolute favorite is a Pelikan M600 F. I really like Noodlers Gruene Cactus and Mont Blanc Violet inks.

No antivirus or firewall? Wow, on a windows machine that is something I couldn't imagine any more.

I'm like you, I like the challenge of removing the malware while leaving everything else intact. I have spent many hours straightening out machines where people have no backup of their precious pictures or other items and a format and reinstall are out of the question.

I was actually quite surprised there was no firewall and no antivirus (well... there was a really old version of an outdated antivirus program, which doesn't really count anyway). What bothered me more was actually the outdated Java and Firefox. Personally, it's my opinion that if you know what you're doing and are very safe with where you go and what you click, you can stay safe on a computer without using antivirus or firewall software as long as your system and other applications are up to date.

For example, I've had a netbook for about 4 months now and never put on antivirus or firewall software. Finally put an antivirus on it and the scan results indicated a clean computer. Don't worry, though. I'll be putting a firewall on it soon, too. Just never got around to it before. :D

I much prefer the fix it through problem solving route than just wiping the computer. The whole tech support industry where people just reformat blindly to get rid of viruses is so based in quick results and inconveniencing the owner of the laptop. Why wipe a computer when it can be fixed otherwise?

I carry a Ken Onion Vapor right now, but looking through that list makes me kind of want a Shallot.

Good night Dom... I have to head out too. French toast in the morning before school for the little ones means I have to get up early.

    Night all! :signs062

That's a tough one, Dom. I'm a vintage pen collector, but I own a dozen or so moderns. I really enjoy my vanishing point. Need to grind my B nib into a nice CI, though. I love my Pelikan San Francisco (625); it was a wedding gift from my lovely bride - it has a crisp italic .9mm in it and it's a favorite. The MB146 with the M oblique nib is a keeper too. I'd like to get a Lamy2k someday. My CS Duro is nice, and it finally writes well after a trip to England (which did no good) followed by a long splainin session on the bench.

For vintage pens, I've always got a Sheaffer Vac-Fil inked up. I like the whole spectrum of pens and don't have a real collecting focus. My very favorites (desert island pens) are my Waterman 24 taper cap, my Moore's Non-Leakable (I wrote a PENnant article on restoring this one), my granddad's Coral Swan (c. 1929ish - his name is embossed in it), a Burgundy Pearl Canadian Vac that I bought from Joel Hamilton - bold, wet writer. Not sure where to stop. Oh, don't forget the big, honkin' black deco band Equipoised and the little green/bronze Equipoised - it has the name of a guy from Spokane that used to bring in bootleg whiskey from Canada and send it to Chicago during prohibition.

It's tough to choose. I've rarely met a pen I didn't really like for one reason or another. I like to swap out daily writers because I like to rotate through a lot of pens. Sheaffer Vac-Fil pens though - there's always one of them in the mix.

Inks - Diamine is my favorite brand. Not a Noodlers fan, with a couple of exceptions (Legal Lapis being one). Aurora black is a staple. Omas Blue - can't live without it. Waterman Purple and Havana Brown make me happy.

Okay, that was probably way TMI, but at least now you know why I try to curb my razor related AD :happy102

    Cheers,
    Tom

I think we play too much D&D...

on top of the current Iron kingdoms campaign my friend Seth decided he is going to DM a game set in ravnica (the guild city in magic the gathering) I'm making a cleric for that one, I can't decide if it will be a boy or a girl but I'm thinking chaotic good or neutral.

We're also starting a 1930s pulp fiction style superhero campaign where we're fighting nazis. I'm making probably a mix of V, violet from the incredibles, and batman. I'm thinking she's going to be named Evie, she is incapable of killing anyone and she likes whips and interrogating people.

    Morning everyone.

I used the RR this morning but not that impressed. I ended up using a NDC tech to finish the shave. Perhaps the blade isn't sharp enough yet. I will set it aside for now and try it again this weekend.

    Quite a mix there, Jen.

I've never done a superhero type campaign, though Rifts can get pretty darn silly as far as peoples' power levels. :D
I sure do miss days when I could actually be a part of a game.
My roommate was running one for a few months last year, but he couldn't get regular attendance.
You never can really get the game rolling when it's like that.
I guess that's the trouble with trying to play games as an adult.
Too many people have 'real lives' that make it hard to devote time to imaginative recreation.
